Not that I know of, but I'm guessing that Mason has quite a few ties to the area.

No, they generally focus on high quality athletes that also have higher than average intelligence which always puts them at a disadvantage. I can honestly admit after living in Nashville for years and knowing more than a few people in the athletic department, they don't compromise to the SAME LEVEL as big name programs (e.g. like my Gators). They do compromise a bit, but even then their athletes are still at a much higher academic level than most other schools.

Very few schools maintain their standards these days... so it is nice to see.

I know Stanford has pretty high standards as well, and they had a top 5 class in 2012 so I guess it's not impossible to still get good athletes. But yeah, the academic standards do make it pretty tough.
