The fixture has been historically problematic. It makes the 49ers - Raiders pre-season game look like a family picnic. 20 -30 years ago the old 1st division was full of meaningless fixtures. (24 teams, 46 games, 1 Champion, 2 more into Europe, & 2 relegated). Most teams had nothing to play for for most of the season. Hence the huge interest in the 'friendly'. Mix hot weather, alcohol, and 2 factions with a deep-running grievance and you're going to get trouble. The Premiership changed a lot of that in England. In Scotland things have gotten worse. Celtic are 1-40 to win the title and 14-1 to 'NOT' win it. There's no money in Scottish football and some fans will seek alternative entertainment, or at least some measure of revenge for England destroying their league. The whole area will be on police lock-down tonight. I'm glad i'm nowhere near it.
