Texas Tech's quarterback Baker Mayfield plans on walking on at the University of Oklahoma.

"Danny Davis @aasdanny
Mayfield has not contacted the Oklahoma coaching staff. He also plans on appealing any transfer restrictions and the one-year rule."

He played high school ball here in Austin, and seems to be a pretty cocky guy, which can be good with a QB.

When I saw the news, was wondering if his walk-on status at TT means he can transfer anywhere he wants? If so, then this makes him look smart, since he had a real football season to get some tape, and can now use that to go somewhere else.

That makes...6 QBs at OU?

Hopefully he can play or he will be transferring again very soon.

dunno, but I see no upside to this kid coming to OU and I'm not sure the staff would welcome him. Why would you want a kid who walked out in his team before their bowl game?

And what about team chemistry? I can't see him being welcomed when there are going to be 5 qbs on the roster, next year and I don't see anybody transferring out at this point.

I hear ut is in desperate need of a qb, tho.....

From the article, it sounds like Mayfield was promised a scholarship but he did not get one. He probably saw some of the boosters' kids get them. You know, the same boosters that wanted Mike Leach gone.

I can't believe a cocky, primadonna kid chose Texas Tech. Not like it has never happened before.

Mayfield didn't have a complete dumb ass calling the offensive game for him.

It would be a bit embarrassing if he walked-on and beat out five scholarship QBs for the job. This QB situation needs to get sorted out...it's been a full season and I still don't know who the hell is starting against Alabama.

Yes, b/c Norman fucking Oklahoma is such a paradise :L

However, I do agree, Lubbock is a major shithole.....

Thanks. I like my metro area just fine. We don't have nearly the hipster douche bag crowd Austin does.

yeah he's never been to Norman. It's a great town. 15 minutes from Okc. Players can go to an Nba game if the want or hang out in Bricktown. Really the best of both worlds with a small town feel and close to a million people metro(without the gays and hippies).
