Harvin would probably get a bigger contract than Dwayne Bowe, and it would be dumb to trade for him without signing him to a new contract. We're talking 10 million a season.

Do the Niners really want to risk that kind of money on a guy who's missed 10 games in 4 years? And that's BEFORE he's filthy rich! He also has lingering mirane problems.

I'd pass.

So if you're on the trading black does that mean the team wants to trade you and you're making a profit?

You really don't think that will be taken into consideration before he signs a contract?

EDIT: Just realized I typed "trade black" in the title. Please disregard this, slavery has been abolished for awhile despite what teammate Adrian Peterson says.

LOL! Nicely done. Maybe THE Stupidest thing any NFL athlete has EVER said.

For those who don't get the reference, Adrian Peterson said about the NFL:

"It's like modern day slavery. You know?"

:)

The thing about taking that into consideration is that Harvin will not. He has to agree to an extention before a trade can get done, and I don't think there's any way Harvin would agree to an extension that pays him less than what Santonio Holmes got (5 years, 45 million). I wouldn't if I were he.

He is just too much of an injury risk to give a contract that he is going to get. Incredibly talented player, but he legitimately is just one or two even moderate hits away from having to retire in my opinion. Best of luck to him.

why would Minny do this?

if he ain't healthy, he ain't wearing our uniform.... but still.... the speed dimension is something we need.

I'd rather go after Bowe. I'm not confident in Harvins ability to stay healthy. I'm also not sure how many years you could get out of Harvin as a top player.

@MoveTheSticks: 49ers would seem like a good landing spot for Harvin…He would be a weapon in that offense and the 49ers have a zillion draft picks.

He has one year left on his deal and we could always tag him after that.

Report: Vikings will actively pursue Percy Harvin trade - NFL.com

Replaces Ginn ~ Return duties and reverse plays
Replaces Manningham ~ screens and short hitch routes
Possibly Replaces Moss ~ Vikings didn't throw deep but you'd think defenses would have to respect his speed

OMG!!! Let's MAKE IT HAPPEN!! How rare is it to have one of your favorite players (draft prospects) entering a draft in any given year end up playing for your team?! Deion Sanders and Patrick Willis were the only two I can think of (Randy Moss doesn't count because he was a shell of himself).

Harvin would change our offense dramatically. It would be so unfair for Roman/Haurbaugh to add him to our roster. The underlying issue here is that we desperately do need his service in terms of what he would bring to our team. That little motion reverse play that we often run with Ginn/Manningham would make defense pay attention to Harvin running in the misdirection play which would then leave huge gaps for Kaep and our RBs to run through.

Injury? We are talking about injury?! (Allen Iverson's voice). All we need from him is between 8-11 touches a game (3 rushes and 7 catches); not counting his KR touches. He would compliment Crabtree very well in our spread offense. I actually like him better than LMJ as our emergency running back when both Hunter and Gore are healthy. That guy is able to find creases and is a very tougher runner for a receiver. This is such a no brainer move IMO. For a 3rd round pick, Baalke better make it happen. OMG!! Please God. Please!!

If we could do it for a 3rd I see this as a no brainer as well. Before the injury he was being talked about as an MVP candidate.
