i think the flyers will look for a goalie to tandem w/ mason at the draft.. either trading for rights, or a blockbuster.. if they dont, bryz and mason will be the tandem next year i think

barring a vezina caliber season next year though, no way he makes it all the way through the amnesty buyout period

Lombardi & Holmgren have made several deals. Lombardi was with the Flyers organization at one time. The Flyers have their own cap issues. Luongo's albatross of a contract doesn't make sense for Philly. Bernier will be a RFA. A goalie they can control for awhile.

Well if they don't resign Nabby the Isles are going to need a goalie. However, with Dipietro's contract already on the books I seriously doubt Garth has any interest in Luongo. Nor do I think Luongo would want to come back.

Well if they don't resign Nabby the Isles are going to need a goalie. However, with Dipietro's contract already on the books I seriously doubt Garth has any interest in Luongo. Nor do I think Luongo would want to come back.

in all seriousness with the exceptions of a couple teams I think Luongo would go anywhere he can start consistently. i just expect now a 3rd round pick at best coming back

I thik this is what has to happen. If the Canucks aren't willing to eat at least 1/3 of the contract I don't think anyone bites.

The problem the Canucks have is Jimmy Howard, Nicklas Backstrom, Mike Smith are all UFA's. There's another UFA to pay attention to as well, his name is Anton Khudobin of the Bruins. This guy is making 875K this year. Somebody could probably get him for 3 years at under 7M total & give him the starting job & see what happens.

I do find it funny that Gillis thought he could get Kadri or Bjugstad. At this point he's going to be lucky if he can get rid of the contract without having to eat any of it.

Any money the Canucks take stays on their cap. Just like if he retires during the contract some of that money stays on the Canucks cap. Luongo wasn't kidding when he said his contract SUCKS.
