Choose 2!! Some of these older guys looked like solid players (especially Johnson)!! Maybe some of you older guys could enlighten us on Barefoot, Jones, and Johnson...

No Chris Drager? I know he only really got to play in his senior year, but I did like what I saw (though I would still have gone with Boone and King anyways).

I had to go with Andre Smith over Boooooone cuz of how big he was in the red zone his senior year

Jeff King is one of my all-time favorite Hokies. He made some really critical catches in his time. The diving catch on 3rd and 10 deep into the 4th at Miami 04, really allowed us to back Miami's offense up for their last possession, and had some important receptions in the USC and Maryland games. Was a great pressure valve for Randall all throughout in 2004. Then fighting Sheldon Williams for loose balls on the hard wood. Good stuff.

I almost put in "Dragerbomb" but didn't feel like he had enough stats to really put him in the running. He actually had a really good year. I think his career was a bit of a waste IMO. He kinda got screwed with being moved around so much. I think if he would have been a true TE for 2 or 3 years, he would have been pretty damned good and higher on this list. He made some memorable catches..

Same here, King and Smith for me. I think Andre was probably the most athletic guy out of this bunch. Glad to hear he is still sticking around, collecting a paycheck in the league..

I think Boone could have been the best out of all of these guys. He was a hell of an athlete in his day (and for his size). I think the fact that he was a "jumbo" athlete and almost a TE/OL hybrid kept him from being what he could've been. If he was a bit faster..and smaller..he could've surpassed King and all of them...

I went with King and Barefoot.

Barefoot played at 235 lbs, which was the norm for TEs back in the day. A very likable guy, drafted by the skins, still lives in the beach, and had two sons play for Beamer. The man bleeds VT colors, whatever they are these days.

There is a good chance he reads this board, or will when someone tells him that there is a VT all time TE contest going on.

Boone in the wild turkey was the shizzit. I can still hear those pads popping in the back of my head somewhere.

heh... I've missed how many to vote for each time.

Looks like I've got a neighbor here in Dipshitville, as my one vote should make the poll results an odd number.

Smith did not have a ton of catches but he had some clutch ones for sure.

Smith's biggest obstacle was Bryan Stinespring, who apparently lost all the pages to the playbook involving TEs somewhere in his couch.

This is definitely not a strong position for VT. Ok so the VT offense has always been simplistic and unimaginative and TEs have not been used much. BUT if they had an exceptionally talented one I think even our offensive coaches would not have kept him out of the offense.
