The NHL has a growing problem and this is just the start of the NFL's Omicron nightmare. Even if they reduce testing and ease protocols this has a potential to get far worse before the SB. We may yet see a return to empty stadiums and teams more or less on controlled lockdowns.

Basketball and Hockey are more screwed as their seasons run longer into this outbreak and they have less players they can afford to miss before not being able to play, just like the Calgary Flames who will end up more than a month without games.

yeah but I think the fact that the new variant is easier to spread and hopefully milder is going to work in their favor. (assuming it is extremely rare for someone to get it more than once)
