Not sure how many of you notice, but in my lexicon, there are differences between “#1”, “ace” and “Ace”.

Web was a “#1”. He is now, I think, an “ace”.

It would have been nice if LaStella took a couple more pitches, to give Webb a bit of a breather. Why bunt with an 8 run lead?

Webb doesn't need no breathers...he's mad as fuck. One pitch one out. He may pitch a CG.

Thanks for the education. Did not know you had made that nuanced a difference. Is a #1 the best pitcher on the team, an ace a #1 level capable pitcher for many teams and an Ace is a Hall of Fame bound pitcher?

Just as the Brewers don't care, the Padres sure as hell don't.

If the Padres are not going to concede the game, the Giants can play small ball to build the lead.

Lotta drama in the AL wild card race still. I really hope Toronto makes it.

Padres throw in the towel, Tatis out.

I'm calling it. 107 wins and NL West champs. First time the Dodgers don't win it in like 8 years. And they won 106 games LOL.

Fuck you LA.

Basically.

A #1 is situational. There are 30 #1s, regardless.

An ace is a starter who would be a #1 on most teams, but brings a little something extra. He is not just an inning eater.

An Ace is a CY-level pitcher. Though sometimes, numbers don’t really apply. Bum was an Ace for us almost from day 1, for example. A single team can have multiple Aces, but only one #1, even though an Ace is BASICALLY a subset if #1s.

Only Hosmer and Caratini left on their bench.
