Friedman says a few things:

-Calgary and Columbus were working on a huge deal around Anderson before he went to MTL.

-Vegas was trying to get Stamkos and/or Hall.

-Lou asked the league to investigate Toronto for tampering when they signed JT, Leafs were cleared (not sure if that was out there, I never heard it).

-Edmonton were convinced they were getting Markstrom lol

-“Bergevin once phoned then-Toronto GM Lou Lamoriello right before a Leaf pick, said, “Sorry, butt dial,” and hung up.” :pound:

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Like, why would he be a terrific fit though you expired thanksgiving stuffing?

They could go get Erik Haula as a depth C and be 10x stronger at the position than they would be with Joe. They could do that with at least 20 other guys before 42 year old Joe Thornton makes sense.

That was my thought. Where would he fit unless he was used on 4th line and played about 5-6 minutes a game?
The Leafs already have Spezza in that role.

I'm okay with this. As long as his wife stays in Florida.

I'd rather have Hoffman at 6 million than Lucic at 6 million. Damn it, that Lucic contract is such a boat anchor.

That would be a pretty good deal for him after what others just received (Toffoli and Hall).
Truth be told, I prefer Granlund as he'd likely be a tad cheaper and would fit in better (give him 3 years ideallly) I think. But Hoffman at one year would be just fine.

If anyone can get Hoff for $6 mil for a year or two they absolutely should. All the guy's done is play at a 30 goal/63 pt pace for the last six years. That's one hell of a value pickup.

You know I keep forgetting Granlund is out there as a FA.

There's a lot of hard miles on that guy. Good for Brendan, but that's a lot of money and term.
Yeah I like him, and they kind of had to sign him, but that's a long time.

Once they opened the bank for Anderson, they could not cheap out on BG
True. I don't have a problem with the deal. I'd prefer a year or two less but I understand it.

And Anderson, maybe I don't watch a lot of Columbus games but I didn't know who he even was. I was fine with getting rid of Domi - it was time. But giving someone coming off an injury 7 years......lol

Would it be a shock at this point if Chara signed a one-year deal with the Canucks????

Hell yeah, I would take him in a heartbeat for one year.
