If Hextal was still around you wouldn't be seeing Hart. All things going forward are looking much more positive.

Certainly wouldn't have seen him long term I don't think. I think he might've made his debut though, I don't think the Flyers had any healthy goalies other than Hart at the time haha. And there wasn't a Calvin Pickard on waivers for them to grab a day or two before the game.

Lindblom is starting to play like the player we thought he could be. Still not bad for a 5th round pick.

I actually thought the same thing, whole time we were behind I was relaxed and just had a feeling we were going to tie it up. Team doesn't quit anymore.

Our defense has been blocking a ton of shots. Prov has been playing a lot better as of late

So we agree that the Hextal/Hakstol system wasn't working? Although Hart has played well this team didn't just click a switch, me thinks a new coaching angle was needed. Our PP still sucks though.

I hear you but at the same time there are benefits to winning especially seeing growth in the young kids. If you lose they turn into losers..
We do this 12-15 game run every season and other than Sanheim and Hart all our young players were on the team for our great second half run last year. Why didn't it work out for this season?

I love to know how our PP stood up from before and after the firing of Joey Mullen.

I agree 100% Hextal wasn't working but i cant blame all 5 coaches for this teams failures over the years.

With the exception of Lavy(who I think should have gotten a chance to rebuild) our coach's IMO weren't that stellar, not to excuse the players either. I think Gordon has just simplified everything and it seems to be working.

With Ghost out why arent we seeing Meyers up in the bigs?
From what I understand, we would have to put Ghost on LTIR to clear a spot for Meyers. Since he should be back next week, they have decided not to pursue that route...

Firing Mullen was definitely a mistake IMO.

I've read some interesting notes about the tweaks he's been trying to instill. One being a 1-3-1 neutral zone defense. It stacks the red line and forces teams to dump in more often (when it's working). The 1-2-2 they ran with Hak gave a lot of teams easier entries and may have played a part in them looking so passive in the defensive zone. Though I think the advanced stats say the Hak-Flyers were pretty good in the neutral zone. So I don't know how much impact that has had so far, but I do think it's interesting.

That, and tweaking the PK to be more aggressive, which has been massive. They were at 73% under Hak this year allowing .875ppg per game. Under Gordon they've been at 81%, allowing .526ppg per game. They'd be 11th in the league on the PK if they operated at that clip all season. (Obviously goaltending has played in to that as well)

Well it def seems to be working and keeping it simple. Also the amount of blocked shots has been out of the park, not sure what got them to buy into that mentality but I'm all for it.
