Any word on Bart’s defense? How about his game-calling skills? He called his own games in college. I assume they are letting him call his own now, if for no other reason than to test him to see where he is at.

Haven't heard much. I don't get good word out of the NWL.

Richmond and Salem are my blindspots

I assumed most of the international signings won't show up in games this year. Is that correct?

Maybe a couple of the older guys, but yeah the exciting ones won't be until next summer, unfortunately.

Look out, Hilson is heating up. Got off to a terrible start, but his last 10 games he batting .308/.386/.590 156 wRC+ .282 ISO. The kid is extremely tooled up, but very raw. 2018 draftee, 6th round

Gotta figure Bart could be a top 5 prospect in all of baseball this coming off season.

Gotta figure Bart could be a top 5 prospect in all of baseball this coming off season.

The crazy part is a lot of these draft picks are shells of their normal selves. They don't have an offseason under their belt where they're working with a major league team and their trainers and strength coaches (a huge part of development, IMO), plus they are possibly playing the longest season of their careers at this point.

Now, Salem is a hitters' heaven, but this is still pretty damn impressive from Bart. I really wonder if the Giants push him to Augusta this year. He could be sniffing SF by late 2019/2020.

I am penciling him in as getting his cuppo by late ‘20 and being Posey’s 60/40 backup in ‘21.

Friday 7/13

Pitching Line: IP-H-R-ER-BB-K

AAA: Sacramento River Cats lost 7-4 (39-53)

Ryder Jones 2-4, HR (9th), 1 RBI, 1 R, 1 K
Mac Williamson 1-4, 2B, 3 RBI

Maybe Mac really did need to get his timing back. Really hope that concussion didn't screw everything up for him, though he wouldn't be the first victim.

Casey Kelly 6.0-9-7-4-2-5
Josh Osich 1.0-1-0-0-1-0
Derek Law 1.0-1-0-0-0-1
Pierce Johnson 1.0-0-0-0-1-2

AA: Richmond Flying Squirrels WON 7-6 (44-45)

C.J Hinojosa 3-4, 1 RBI, 1 R, 2 SB (4th and 5th), 1 CS (1st)
Dylan Davis 3-5, 2B, 2 RBI
Ali Castillo 1-4, 2B, 1 R, 1 RBI, 2 K

Taylor Hill 6.0-8-1-1-1-4
Garrett Williams 1.0-1-0-0-1-0
Dillon McNamara 1.0-4-3-3-0-1
Carlos Diaz 1.0-0-0-0-0-1
Sam Wolff 1.0-1-2-1-2-1

A+: San Jose Giants WON 8-6 (42-51)

Jalen Miller 2-5, HR (11th), 2B, 2 RBI, 2 R, 1 K
Wander Franco 2-5, HR (2nd), 2 RBI, 1 R, 1 K
Heath Quinn 1-2, 1 R, 2 BB, 1 K, 1 SB (3rd)
Matt Winn 1-2, HR (8th), 1 RBI, 1 R, 1 BB, 1 K

Jalen Miller can certainly hit a fastball (that's the book on him right now, soft-ball him to death). 11 homers is really a great milestone for the kid. He was once a pretty big prospect, fell off the map for a bit and has roared back this year. Still just 21 years old.

Logan Webb 4.2-3-2-2-3-5
Sandro Cabrera 0.2-4-3-3-0-1
Nolan Riggs 2.2-2-1-1-1-1
Frank Rubio 1.0-0-0-0-0-0

Webb pitches into the 5th inning for the first time this year. Results: mixed. But his stuff is really good. Tough to get good video, but here's his curveball. Pretty late, sharp break on that charlie

A: Augusta GreenJackets lost 3-2 (46-44)

Manuel Geraldo 3-4, 2B, 1 R, 1 RBI
Rob Calabrese 1-3, 1 RBI, 1 R, 2 K

Calabrese is fighting for his job right now with Bart tearing up the NWL

Garrett Cave 4.0-5-3-3-4-2
Tyler Schimpf 2.0-3-0-0-1-4
JJ Santa Cruz 2.0-0-0-0-1-1
John Timmins 1.0-1-0-0-0-1

Cave is much better suited for the Pen

A-: Salem-Keizer Volcanoes lost 3-1 (15-13)

David Villar 1-4, 2B, 1 RBI, 1 K, 1 error (3rd)
Joey Bart 1-3, 2 K

I'd say the only concerning thing about Bart at this point is the K's. 17-2 K-BB ratio in 15 MiLB games.

Gregory Santos 4.0-4-2-1-3-7
Keenan Bartlett 3.0-1-1-1-0-3
Matt Frisbee 1.0-0-0-0-1-0

Santos gets the tough-luck loss. He was nasty tonight, if not wild at times (which has been unusual for him). At just 18 years old (18!!!) against mostly college players and an offensive league, he's just killing it. More than holding his own. 28-8 K-BB ratio in 29 innings, only 1 homer. He's given up 31 hits, but the lack of homers and solid command tell me that many of the hits have been weaker contact, but I can't confirm that.

All the Rookie League were off (DSL on All-Star Break)

Saturday 7/14

Pitching Line: IP-H-R-ER-BB-K

AAA: Sacramento River Cats lost 3-2 (39-54)

Peter Bourjos 1-4, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 2 K
Chris Shaw 1-3, 2B, 1 BB, 0 K!
Jerry Sands 2-4, 1 R

Mike Connolly 5.2-5-2-2-2-2
Steven Okert 0.0-0-0-0-3-0
Tyler Rogers 2.1-2-1-1-0-0
Jose Valdez 1.0-0-0-0-0-1

So Okert comes in to a runner on 1st, 2 out situation and walks three in a row. Solid.

AA: Richmond Flying Squirrels lost 5-3 (44-46)

Dylan Davis 2-4, HR (9th), 1 RBI, 2 R, 1 K
Aramis Garcia 2-3, 1 RBI, 1 BB

Chase Johnson 0.2-5-5-5-1-1
Dan Slania 2.1-0-0-0-1-1
Carlos Diaz 1.0-2-0-0-1-0
Ryan Halstead 3.0-3-0-0-0-1
Patrick Ruotolo 1.0-0-0-0-1-2

Brutal start after a tremendous outing last time.

A+: San Jose Giants WON 10-2 (43-51)

Bryce Johnson 1-1, 3 R, 1 RBI, 3 BB, 1 SB (19th)
Jalen Miller 3-5, HR (12th), 2 RBI, 1 R, 2 K
Dillon Dobson 2-3, 2 2B, 2 RBI, 1 R, 2 BB, 1 K
Kelvin Beltre 1-4, HR (2nd), 1 RBI, 1 R, 1 K
Jacob Heyward 1-3, 2B, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 2 K

12th homer for Miller. He's dramatically increased his homeruns this year. In fact every year he's gotten better. Went from 0 homers to 5 homers to 6 homers to 12 this year.

Johnson had an interesting game. He also left early, not sure why.

Domenic Mazza 5.2-10-2-1-1-2
Rodolfo Martinez 1.1-0-0-0-0-0
Ryan Walker 2.0-0-0-0-1-1

A: Augusta GreenJackets WON 6-1 (47-44)

Jacob Gonzalez 2-4, HR (8th), 2 RBI, 1 R
Jeffry Parra 1-4, HR (5th), 2 RBI, 1 R

John Gavin 5.0-4-1-1-0-9
John Russell 2.0-1-0-0-0-1
Camilo Doval 2.0-0-0-0-2-3

Gavin is simply too advanced for this league. His stuff is modest, but he has a pretty good changeup and it's just too much for these kids to handle. 1.86 ERA now.

A-: Salem-Keizer Volcanoes lost 8-2 (15-14)

Robinson Medrano 1-3, 2B, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K
Joey Bart 1-4, 1 K
Nico Giarratano 1-3, 2B, 1 RBI, 1 BB

Norwith Gudino 5.2-8-3-2-0-5
Zach Becherer 0.1-0-0-0-1-0
Alex DuBord 1.0-4-4-4-1-1
Greg Jacknewitz 1.0-2-1-1-0-0

Rookie: AZL Giants Black lost 7-1 (8-12)

Alexander Canario 2-5, 1 RBI, 2 K
Frankie Tostado 2-4, 2B
Sean Roby 2-4, 1 K

Well, sure looks like Canario is coming around.

Johan Herrera 5.0-7-3-3-0-3
Victor Concepcion 1.0-0-0-0-1-2
Jordan Scott 1.0-3-3-3-1-0
Aneudy Acosta 2.0-1-1-1-0-1

Rookie: AZL Giants Orange WON 11-2 (12-9)

Yorlis Rodriguez 4-5, 2 2B, 2 R, 2 BB
Ismael Munguia 2-6, 2B, 2 R
Beicker Mendoza 4-6, 3 RBI, 2 R, 1 K
Tyler Flores 2-4, 1 RBI, 1 R, 1 BB

That was the 1-2-3-4 top of the lineup

Marco Gonzalez 5.0-8-2-2-1-5
Dusten Knight 2.0-1-0-0-0-4
Logan Harasta 2.0-0-0-0-0-3
