I am guessing- and just guessing, itll prob only be 3 years, and if he does not win a title in that time span he will not be looked at favorably.

That was the downside of going to LA if you ask me--- with their history, if you don win it- or even multiple- can you really be considered a "success"?

If LeBron never gets to a Finals there - obviously that would be a pretty major failure. If he never wins one their is it a failure? Its an interesting question. If he says- gets to a WCF and gets to an NBA Finals, but they lose? Would he and or the Lakers fans consider it a "success" or is "success" for the Lakers only measured in titles?

Id say if he can get them to a Finals or two, even if he doesnt win, as long as he leaves them better off then when he found them- itll be a success. If he leaves them drained of assets when he is like 38 years old without at title to show for it, then i think it would have been a failure---- but - on the other hand, for LeBron- it looks at this point that he is not measuring success and failure as winning/losing titles as much as expanding his business empire. If he uses LA to expand his business empire, but never delivers a title, how will this part of his career be looked upon? On the other hand- if he does win a title, does he become the best of all time winning with a 3rd team?

How many players have gotten 3 different teams to the Finals, much less win 3 titles with 3 different teams?

lol I mean the guy who "de-faced" LeClown. I mean who knows? in HIS case it might've been about Kobe. it ain't like I know...

but the who's better thing is ALL about jealousy. I mean, what else is there in that kinda statement? I mean, seriously...

anyways I digress. just saying in my case Kobe has nothing to do with it...
yah its interesting.

I dont think its jealousy as much as just sticking up for your guy.

objectively- people from all over the country pretty much implicitly (and explicitly) realize and accept that LeBron is better all time than Kobe- as much as that thing can even be "proved" or accepted in the first place.

I dont blame lakers fans for wanting to stick up for their guy Kobe that was on 5 title teams- while LeBron is coming in at age 34 with practically no chance to win a title this year.

what i think is interesting is that, for a lot of people according to the feedback this guy received, and the graffiti etc.- that many people somehow tie holding LeBron up as denigrating Kobe. I think Kobe is top 10 of all time and a great player and dont need to drag lebron down to make kobe look better. It seems a lot of people in LA have that mindset though.

in order for the "LeBron Era" to be considered a success for you, what would have to happen the next 3 or so + years?

I was told time and time again, over and over and over, that with LeBron it was nothing but "title or bust" that was successful.

Wondering if people are going to try and walk that back now.

Laker fans measure titles. And I tell you all there is a good chance he wins one there. IF Ingram rises this year they will be a team to contend with. Its going to be fun to watch them again. LBJ may be irritating but he balls as a top 5 all time.

the artist putting on the mural "King of LA" - you had to expect to see some push back from that though right? Even I would say- LeBron comes here at age 34, without winning a title, Magic has what? 4 or 5 titles? Kobe has 5 titles? and you are calling LeBron "King of LA" sounds a bit premature.

Having said that- after the last 5-6 years the Lakers have endured, I would think it would have been lessened the backlash.

Next year is a building year.....clearly no title, but if they land another superstar next summer (in a far deeper FA class) they have a shot to win a title in the following 3 years, especially with GS having to make some serious decisions starting next summer and the following.

So 4 years from now, what does a "successful" run look like?

Like when LeBron came back- if you told me, 4 times to the Finals, and a title in the best come back in nba history, i would have said- cool deal.

for that 4 year contract LeBron has in LA, at the end of 4 years, what would you be happy with and consider a success?

He's already making us relevant again by most likely single handedly getting in the postseason next season but I think if he can bring a title that's just fine.

Most people realize.....while he's playing great, he's not in his prime anymore. A player's prime is generally 24-25 to about 30-31. Once you hit 30 and when you have the miles on him he has.....anything after is gravy.

But, I'm on record saying he has 2 years left at his current level of play and then 2 more where he's still a top 20 player.

How ya been, Slinky?

Not bad. Pretty busy with work and family. Our one month of unencumbered summer is about to start after Slink Jr plays his last baseball game on Saturday.

How's 'bout you?

When you get your 200 Hoop welfare later, you wanna bet on the Yanks-Indians? I like the Yanks.

Sure, I don't care. You might have to remind me, though.

Every day I bet all I have on one game. Lost 15k on the Brewers on Monday.
