This is selecting 4 teams. Adding more is not an option. What would be the best way in selecting 4 teams?

Is the current system the best at the moment?

One way that has been throwing around is having the BCS system determine Top 4.

Having different committees (one committee be writers, another be ADs, another be NFL scouts, etc) do as poll, put the rankings together to make an official rankings.

Do an online poll. Let the fan base that trolls the best decide. $$$ and ratings mean a lot.

The BCS formula should unquestionably be used. The more data you have available the better the result will be. With that said, I still the committee and BCS would have selected the same 4 teams every year.

I'm just glad the committee doesn't automatically select 4 conference champions. That would be absurd.

There should be 8 teams, P5 conference champions should get automatic bid and the remaining three, let the committee figure it out.

Oh and teams that play FCS opponents should have it held against them one way or another

If a conference champion can’t make it into the top 8, do they really need an auto bid?
When was the last time a P5 conference champion wasn't ranked top 8 heading into the bowl season?

Probably USC. Trojans would have barely made the cut this past season under this scenario as they were ranked 8th heading into the Cotton Bowl

If you are getting auto bids to conference champs there is no reason to schedule tough in non conference and no way to penalize a team of the wanted to schedule three FCS in the non conference games.

It's not about need so much as it is about should.
Why? If they aren’t good enough to be ranked in the top 8, why should they be gifted a free pass into the playoffs over a more deserving opponent?

All games ranked equally, not by when in the season you lost. The losses should have heavier weigh than the wins. For instance, and call me a homer if you want. I maintain that Wisconsin's loss to tOSU was a better loss than Alabama's loss to Auburn. I don't care that Alabama won their next 2 games.

What team was that?
Wisconsin

There may have been one more recently like Stanford a couple years ago but Wisconsin I know off the top of my head.
