Wouldn't say Philly is a no brainer

The Eagles have the best roster in the NFL and are in a division where they should have no problem winning.

Repeating as champs is difficult and I personally have the Rams going to the SB but right now I can't see how anyone can say the Eagles are not one of the top 5 teams in the NFL.

No doubt that Witten and Dez were not as good as earlier in their careers. But they still commanded attention from defenses. Who now commands attention from defenses in the Dallas passing game? The biggest answer is probably Cole Beasley, seriously.

I think the best bet for Dallas is going to be starting rookies at TE and WR, and they have some decent prospects in Dalton Schultz and Michael Gallup, but that may take some time to bear fruit.
Did you know Beasley was doubled more often than Dez last year? Think about what that says about Dez and then if his leaving will be a big loss or not. Why has no one signed him? They have not lost Dez Bryant circa 2014. They lost a guy that caused problems on the sideline, in the meeting rooms and who demanded the ball and then let the team down more often than not when it came his way.

The Dez Bryant and Witten that Dak had produced these stats. They were no longer the top players that Tony Romo benefited from in the past:

Dez 2 year average: 59 catches; 817 yards; 7 TDs
Witten 2 year avg: 66 catches; 616 yards; 4 TDs

Losing Witten is huge from a leadership perspective, but losing the Dez drama may offset that. I for one am not worried about being able to replace their productivity because they were no longer weapons. The Cowboy WRs and TEs are certainly not great and we will need some players to step up, but the plan is to just hit the open guy. No one will have 1,000 yards and no one will have 10 TDs, but no one did in 2016 either. they were extremely slow the last couple of years which made it very easy to cover and more importantly to play 8 or 9 in the box without fear of being beaten deep. That won't be the case this year as they have added a lot of speed. If they can run the ball, which they should be able to do, the PAP will work just fine and they won't find themselves in 3rd and long all that often. Time will tell.

I've seen crazier things happen.

Nothing is a lock in the NFC so let's all quit acting like it is impossible for the eagles to go 9-7 and miss the playoffs.

Gallup should be able to replace Dez at least between the 20's, I have concerns about the RZ receivers. Not sure who will step into that roll. IMO where we will miss Jason is his receiving AND blocking combination. Schultz is a capable blocker but he was asked to be a receiver to often in Stanford. One thing reciever wise Dallas does have it didn't have in 16 is deep threats. D's stacked the box vs. Zeke and Dallas couldn't/didn't take advantage of that.

You're forgetting the most important thing....the eagles are changing the way NFL rosters are built.

I don't see how.... The Pats have been building their rosters this way for years.

Someone on Eagles board posted a story about how the Eagles are revolutionary in building rosters and I found it amusing. Poking fun at it that's all

Yeah....I saw that thread. I thought it was kind of funny myself to be honest. What the Eagles did was not rocket science if we are being honest.

IIRC, the important parts of the video talked about the RT position being as important if not more important than the LT position and the ability to win without investing in the CB position because they are so deep at DL and S.

Most of the Eagles success in the playoffs is tied to coaching and execution, imo.

I'm not so sure Gallup is even going to start or play most of the snaps. I tend to not expect things from rookies until we see it on the field. I think Hurns starts on one side and don't be surprised if T Will flashes those pics of Jerry he has been keeping and not only makes the team, but starts again this year opposite Hurns, or at least the first few games...Beasley in for 3 wide is pretty likely. But, should be a lot of rotation with everyone getting snaps and eventually those who perform will earn more.

yep....different game when you're the defending champs, you get everyones A game.

this team is in trouble if they have anywhere near the attitude their fans have shown here

I am surprised that some 42% of respondents as of Tuesday morning seem to think Dallas is going to the playoffs. Have you looked at the team's receivers and tight ends?
tissue?

nothing changes in the NFL and the previous year always gives great insight for whats to come

Healthy Rodgers they'll make it

Lost for season again, they'll miss it

If their defense gets better, they'll be SB contendors
They probably still miss last year even if he plays all 16. Wouldve needed to go 11-5 to get in. They've only done that once in the last 6 years

The Rams and Eagles are definitely up there in the top 5. It is difficult to repeat as every team is gunning for you. I think there is a certain amount of luck that can be the difference between making it to the super bowl. Staying relatively healthy versus getting hammered by injuries is one.
