That's a good point. O-line investments are crucial.

Well its an interesting take. But I'd like to see their defense take a step forward if they want to be competitive.

Colts, have really made some interesting personnel moves when you have a $100 mil franchise QB...some of the same stuff ATL did...building from the outside in and that will get your QB killed. You gotta invest in quality beef up front and on the other side if you expect to contend for the SB.

PIT has the recent good fortune of taking OL later and molding them with a HOF position coach.

2. PIT
3. DEN
4. LAC
5. HOU
6. CLE

I could easily put Jax in for any of the number 3-6.
Den had a good off season. I think they get back in the playoffs.
LAC no real reason they can't sneak in. I can't feel good about KC right now.
Hou has the talent and a new coach, let's se what they can do? A lot rides on a healthy JJ.
Cle sooner or later is going to surprise. I want to be able to say I told you so.

I can buy most of this....I think it's difficult to put a bunch of players together in one season and have immediate success...my primary reason for not thinking this will be CLE's year to play in the postseason. I'm not high on Baker as some others might be, but if you're a fan of the Browns, you have to feel more encouraged about the team than any point in the last 5 yrs...I still think Jackson will have a hard time keeping the job just because the GM is going to want his own guy in there. If they don't make that 6th seed that you're projecting, I think there will likely be a new HC...maybe that will be a spark for success in 2019 and beyond.

I'm not sure this is possible but this is how I see things

1. New England
2. Houston
3. Pittsburgh
4. Kansas City
5. Jacksonville
6. Tennessee

Every team in the AFC West should be getting votes, imo, because thats wide open. Baltimore is also in if they get any form of QB play

This ^^. Although the number 6 team could be anyone. I think the Titans are improving though so I went with them.

Obviously 4 and 5 would be switched here because of divisions.

I think we're going to have one team in the AFC thats 'ahead of schedule' whether its the Browns or Kansas City or Indianapolis or Baltimore (if they switch QBs) or maybe even Buffalo. I'm just not sure I can tell you which team its going to be.

I believe those same question marks were next to the Jaguars last year.......

Though the Colts roster isn't as stacked as the Jags, but
I don't see the comparison? Not as much talent and we're not sure what condition Luck will be in?

I'm thinking Cleveland is a year or two away with a different coach running the show.

I'm not sure I would agree here. If they wind up 7-9 but lose several close games and look dramatically improved, I think he stays on. The amount of talent on his team this year compared to the last 2 is so ridiculous dramatic, it would almost be unfair to think anyone would've won many more games than he did.

Now if he goes out with this team and goes 5-11 and loses games on bonehead plays or gets blown out, he's definitely gone.

I would retain him for sure under that scenario, and I'll backpedal and agree with you there.

Talent...yes and no. The team had talent before Hue got there. Granted, he didn't want to lose Alex Mack, but he more or less cleaned house of several vets. Now, he did realize the error of his ways and spent money on OL and other talent in yr 2, but starting a known to be raw talent at QB pretty much negated the upgrades he made. A journeyman vet at QB probably yields 4 or 5 wins last yr alone. He tried it with RG3 (admittedly I thought it was a good stopgap move)...just the wrong guy.

You know Hue isn't the GM, right? He had no say in the moves they made (and didn't make).

They didn't have a journeyman vet at QB, and I agree with you. Had the front office elected to bring back Josh McCown for a year, we're a 5-11 team in 2017. However, he was choosing between Kizer, Brock Osweiller, Kevin Hogan, and Cody Kessler at QB. Kizer is the most talented of that group by leaps and bounds, but he was extremely raw and had little to no help at WR until later in the year when Gordon came back. He was set up to fail from the get-go.

Again. I don't see why people are so high on Houston. Remember that there in a tough divison.

1) Jacksonville at 13-3
2) New England at 12-4
3) Pittsburgh at 11-5
4) Oakland at 9-7
5) Tennessee at 11-5
6) Cleveland at 10-6

Yeah, but I'm going to disagree there...he came in with guns blaring. That's not unusual when a new HC takes over. No HC takes over and from day one gets hamstrung with a roster he doesn't want.

Quinn did the same thing here in ATL...year one he kept who he wanted and got rid of those he didn't...he or Dimitroff (take your pick) but they were gone. On the flip...no GM will hire a new HC and get rid of players the coach wanted to keep.

I'm not saying it was a good move, or bad move, but it happened...there was better talent than 1 for 32 on the roster was my point....Kizer might've been the most physically talented of the QB group they kept, but clearly was not ready to start NFL games yet...keeping a McGown or a vet of his elk around absolutely would've produced more wins...Osweiler showed in HOU he was not that guy...why bother taking on that contract?

You're really attributing too much to Hue. It was pretty well-known that he and the old front office didn't see eye to eye on personnel. It even spilled over into the media late last season about how the friction there growing and it was surrounding Hue's desire to have more input on decision-making regarding his players.

Report: Hue Jackson wants more say in personnel decisions

While I do think he should've won more than 1 game, just the QB situation last year easily cost them 4-5, and it wasn't because Hue was doing something wrong as a coach. He just had horrible options at the position.

I'm not that guy. I thought Hue got a raw deal in OAK and was a good hire in CLE.

What HC doesn't want more say in personnel?...but I find it hard to believe a GM would bring in a new HC and get rid of players that he wants to keep.
