Yes, it's a cliche that's been said the last three years, and I'm not going to sit here and say that they'll be a title contender in the east, but...

This is a team that won 48 games in 2015-16, and with the squad very much intact, plus Tony Parker, Miles Bridges, Malik Monk, and Willy Hernangomez, it wouldn't be crazy to think they could repeat their 2016 success with a fully healthy Zeller and Batum. And just yesterday, they brought back Biyombo in a trade with Orlando as an insurance big.

I could definitely see them winning more games than the Pacers.

And let's give in up for Tony Parker, who becomes just the third player in NBA history to spend 17 seasons with one franchise before joining another. Hakeem Olajuwon (Houston/Toronto) and Karl Malone (Utah/Lakers) were the other two. Parker entered the league at age 19 and his first 20-point game cam against...

The first incarnation of the Charlotte Hornets, interestingly enough.
I have liked the Hornets roster for a while now.

First- I love that they took Miles Bridges. I think he has a little Draymond in him. He is a great leader, can play on the wing. Can make shots. Can play defense. It truly shows how loaded this draft was that he went in the late lotto.

As for the Hornets- i just like a lot of their pieces.

Kemba is a top 10 PG. He is a great team leader. Batum is the exact type of athletic wing that can shoot that works so well in the league nowadays. Marvin Williams has developed into a stretch 4 with some athleticism. I thought cody zeller would be a good fit in todays NBA- can shoot but can also move and should be able to pass.

When MKG was taken #2 I was so bummed the Cavs had #4. I wanted him for the Cavs but thus far the guy just has really never taken that next step.

I like the Hornets and quitea few of their players but they just cant seem to put it together which is a shame.

by the way....MKG is only 24 will be 25 in September. He seems like he should be older. Ya never know how guys end up developing. Shit- Kuzma is 22 (just turned)....hes less than 3 years older than Kuzma.

Honestly- if I were a team that needed a wing- id kick the tireso n MKG. He has the work ethic to maybe someday do things he has not yet done.

Finally, the first person the actually read the post comes on Page 2! Well done, sir.

I like Williams as a three-point specialist, but at 32 he should not be a full-time player anymore, especially considering he posted his lowest rebound rate since his days in Utah as a wing player (though granted, some of that was due to Howard).

It will be interesting to see of Bridges starts over Williams at some point next season.

Should’ve signed Napier instead of Parker.

Parker was the pick not because of his past success, but rather because of his connections with Borrego and Batum, as well as familiarity with the system being implemented.

Charlotte would have been a better team simply by trading Dwight Howard - but then they took Mozgov in Trade, so by deducting Howard 25 million and adding Mozgov 36 million - makes a 11 million or so towards the salary cap, but then they traded Mozgov today so I think they probably ended up with draft picks and dumped Mozgov and Howard - which would make them a rebuilding team with a few extra draft picks? - I'd say they are comatose more then sleeping:lol:

You have no idea what you're talking about, Derp Derp.

Michael Jordan is a horrendous owner/Decision maker.

What is their current direction here? Right now I am trying to think if there is a less exciting roster in the entire NBA. I honestly can't think of one. Charlotte will win 40 games or so if they keep Walker, but what exactly is their future?

MJ isn't trying to make the Hornets competitive.....he's just a businessman.

He bought the Hornets for 275 million in 2010. They are now worth more than 1 billion and he owns 90% of the team.

It is estimated he has made 1.9 billion in his career between salary and endoresements. The most ever for an athlete.

This.

When I saw the thread title, my first response was going to be: "Why, has Jordan sold the team?"

Love the player, hate the executive.

I hope not, Batum seems like the best bet as a trade piece for Wiggins as neither will live up to their contract. So Hornets struggling seems like the best shot to be free of Wiggins.

Lol, he's about to enter his 7th season in the league, averages less than 10ppg, can't shoot the 3, doesn't pass the ball and can't defend for shit.

But yeah take a shot on him....

Post his defensive stats if you want a laugh
are you really this dumb?

MKG is one of the best defensive wings in all of the NBA. The fact htat you either (i) are totally ignorant of that, or (ii) somehow disagree with it, shows that you just might have the brain power of left over shit on a toilet bowl.

Offense? pretty much a disaster (though not nearly as bad as your boy Lonzo)...

defensively - elite.

Defense? Ranked 267th in Defensive rating, 148th in defensive win shares. 344th in Opponents Points off Turnovers. 0.7 steals per game 0.4 blocks per game

I get why this is impressive for the Cavs standard though

Lol, moron.

Agree with everything but the defensive part. MKG is a good defender. But he's starting to stray towards Mboute territory, and that's about it.

I can't believe there are people that really like the Hornets roster. This is hilarious. Charlotte's going to miss the playoffs, just like every year.

They might make the playoffs, but they do not have a good roster at all.

He's actually not THAT good defensively. He's above average, but nothing special. And given his total lack of development on any part of his offensive game, he's not worth much of the hype he still gets in some corners of NBA fandom. I think its mostly from people still holding out hope from when he was drafted but that ship has sailed.

They made it a few seasons ago.
