Sometimes it is. When Kobe signed that huge long term contract, they would have been better off parting ways.

Which team will you be rooting for next year?

No way they walk away from trying to win 4 in a row imo

It depends. There's a point where the money just gets to be too much. No matter how many titles you're trying to win.

So far, they have all been willing to sacrifice some money and the Warriors have been willing to pay the luxury tax.

I mean, they have potentially, 4 max guys on the team. You can't carry that many. The only reason they were able to add KD was because of incredibly fortunate timing because they had max guys still on their cheaper deals.

And Boogie isn't signing for $5.3 million again unless it's shown he's a shadow of himself because of injury, in which case it won't matter.

Those bills are going to start coming due. They have to. It's unavoidable. Even Warriors fans know this and say this group likely doesn't have more than a couple of seasons left together.

I want Kyrie outta Boston ASAP. Not a fan of his. He can't stay healthy + his flat Earth nonsense is bizarre. And he can go fuck himself for saying he wants to play for the Brickabockers.

WILL admit with some o' the shit he says he seems 1 sandwich short...

Terry Rozier isn't quite as good, but at least he ain't bonkers...

im guessing 2 more years for the Warriors now.

I just saw OKC carrying the highest payroll in the game. That surprises me and changes some of my predictions. IF OKC can carry 300M for a year or two maybe GSW can do it for a YEAR or two.

ITs not something they can do LONG term, for like another 4 years starting right now---- but i do think they can POSSIBLY do 2 more years.

I think that they will eventually let Draymond go. Once Draymonds contract goes from like 16M to 30M i think is when they get screwed

Durant did them another huge favor going from 25 to only 30 instead of 36. That 6M discount he took saves them like a total of 36M dollars about.

Plus you still have hou, philly and bos...how long before they become the next upcoming teams?

Houston got worse when they lost Ariza and the may lose Capela. CP3 is injury prone and is only going to get older. If their window isn't closed, it may be pretty close to closed.

We don't know what Philly will be yet. They look real good, but they also are depending on guys with injury history. If they can stay healthy, they have a shot though.

Boston looks like they can be a dynasty, but even they aren't a shoo in for anything and now they have to deal with Kyrie talking crazy.

I don't really think any cavs fans are bitter.

Definitely less bitter than when he left the first time. But let's not pretend you guys are happy about it or particularly wishing him well. As soon as it was announced that he was going to the Lakers you guys switched from "Lebron is all about championships" to "Lebron doesn't care about winning anymore".

It feels true (most of it)...But i think at first Kyrie was happy, but later regretted playing with lebron

I think that Lebron getting all of the credit for the title they won may have been the final straw for him.

Kyrie played his ass off and arguably had as much to do with the Cavs getting that title as Lebron. Heck, he hit arguably the biggest shot in Cavs history.

But all anyone talked about was how Lebron kept his promise and brought a title to Cleveland.

how could anyone reasonably looking at the situation now not say that?

I was convinced he would go with Paul George which would at least give him a chance at, if not making the conference Finals, at least win a playoff series.

Now I do not even think winning a playoff series is guaranteed. From a guy thats been to the Finals 8 straight times.

I cannot express to you how shocked I am by that and LeBron would enter his age 34 season with practically no chance of even making the Conference Finals. That totally and 100% shocks me. IT really shocks me.

Kyrie had 2 years left on his contract.

LeBron earned his decision to make his choice. Kyrie whined his way out of town by threatening to have surgery and miss the season. Big difference.

He had practically no chance of making the finals if he stayed in Cleveland. He moved from a team that not only had very little chance of making the finals again, but also had very little chance of improving the roster enough to ever make it again.

From there, he went to a team that at least has the ability to put together a roster that can contend over the next couple of seasons.

Obviously, if it was purely about winning, he would be in Philly. So what his family wants and what he wants for life after basketball played a significant role in his decision.

However, acknowledging that he wasn't winning this year regardless and moving to a place where he has a better chance of getting a ring or 2 before he retires, doesn't mean he doesn't care about winning anymore.

I agree with all of that.

It has nothing to do with what I said in my post though.

My post was part of a discussion with l23james about when/why Kyrie reached a point where he was done playing with Lebron.

Are you seriously rolling with a Warrior avatar now?

What a joke.

That has always been my issue, but in reality it has become the norm.
James has had an opt out option in most previous seasons he has played. I am assuming he wouldn't have been above pulling the same type of nonsense if he didn't have those opt outs.

Except that he has never done that, nor has he engaged in any way without media when asked about upcoming free agency. He has never done anything short of honoring his contract and moving on when it expires.

I don't think LeBron has giving up on contending for championships.

He merely recognized that I think wasn't happening in 2019 no matter what he did. So, he allowed the Lakers to preserve their assets and wait till next year, when they will assemble a contender.

I honestly don't know how you can think he has given up. LA now is absolutely no different than Cleveland now. And an early exit won't be the worst thing for him. A 9th straight Finals appearance with 0 chance at a ring just isn't that appealing.
