I won't hold it against her. I hate the s.o.b. too...
I'm sure it will make some here happy - since I won't be breaking their unwritten rule of only being a fan of 1 team - even though there are 30 to choose from. lol

So Cousins turned down 2 yr/40 from the Pelicans?
During the Season....

League sources say that Cousins rebuffed New Orleans’ offer of a two-year contract extension in the $40 million range after the injury but before the season ended. When that offer was declined, sources say, New Orleans took it off the table

Word also reached us Monday night that LeBron’s Lakers, after signing Rajon Rondo away from New Orleans and then losing Randle to the Pelicans, had an opportunity to sign Cousins at a one-year price point similar to the one that landed him in Golden State. But I’m told the Lakers passed, clearing the way for the Warriors to infuriate the basketball public yet again.

It's a smart move by him. This is the one team where he has zero pressure to get back out there and he could never even suit up and it would be "whatever". Any other team and there would eventually be the "when's he going to be out there to help us win" dialogue.

There's a reason why.

A guy who averages 24/12 doesn't usually go for $5m and has multiple teams pass up on him.
There is no hidden secret here. We all already know why. He ruptured his Achilles - which is harder to recover from for big men - and his attitude. Lakers already have LaVar to deal with, so it's understandable why they would pass on Boogie. One team's trash can be another team's treasure.

They want Capela. If they can't get Capela they'll just sign Cousins next year.

What? No way. Link?
Context....

It was during the Season.

They did not offer it in Free Agency.

The Lakers also passed on giving him the same deal the Warriors got him for.

yea, I eventually read the article. Amazing it was extended after his injury & he declined. But everything happens for a reason is the only conclusion I can come to. :D

This makes sense. But, Cousins may be butt hurt after this season & won't sign next year either. lol

This is stupid.

If they would have been able to do this back in the day it would have been stupid too

Yeah, his history of having a shit attitude and guys like Gilbert Arenas, Chandler Parsons inking big deals and never earning them.

But, I'd take that gamble at 5m.

Rondo is just as petulant and half as skilled and the Lakers signed him.

I actually like the Mcgee and Stephenson signings.

But, Rondo makes no sense at 9 mil when he can't shoot and he's going to rock the boat by wanting Lonzo's job.

.....and he should get it.

Yeah but I'm not sure what he and his agent were thinking.

The fact that the Pelicans were offering to pay him 20 mill coming off an Achilles injury is a deal I'm signing if that was me.

Not sure they thought he would get offered more in the offseason
He lost out on the 200 mil deal in Sacto.

He wanted the max and was probably banking on getting it in Dallas.

Who knew Cuban would be so forgiving?

I wonder what the Pelicans were offering yesterday.
Me too.

All I keep seeing is more than the Warriors....lol

The fact that they paid Randle was probably the Coup de Grace.

Rondo is there to mentor Lonzo. Perfect guy to do it too so the signing makes sense. $9m is a bit too much IMO but you can't win them all.

He's a hell of an improvement from Tyler Ennis and it's only a 1 year deal.

GSWs are either really gay or they are very insecure. Could be both I guess

The NBA is now like college football. The gap between the best teams and the worst teams is huge. Professional sports should not have gaps that enormous

He doesn't want to wait two years. Cousins believes that he can prove he's worth a big contract offer next summer.

I heard that in a different article Cousins was quoted saying NO told him they weren't going to resign him. Wonder of the timing after reading this article that offered him $20ml/2 years.

Makes sense. And after given an open time table to do so with GS I'm sure he'll heal just fine.
