15/2 for Villanova is unreal considering what they lost.

Just a terrible bet. Odds should be something like 20-1.

UK 10/1 is a good bet.

Kentucky should be 1 after getting Travis.

LSU as a 50/1 Longshot seems like it could have some value. Only thing that would hesitate me is the sec appears to be quitr strong again, so their seed will probably suffer in the tournament.

The next closest Big East team is 100/1 though meaning Nova is still the overwhelming favorite to win the conference. Which will turn into a favorable draw in the tournament. I'd be pretty surprised if they weren't a 3 seed or better come selection Sunday.

Agree with this. I'd have them #1 going into next season. Previously had Tennessee at #1 prior to the Travis commitment.

25-1 on Tennessee is by far the best bet on this list

If the Big East is that watered down and Nova loses its OOC games, then they could be looking at a 4 or 5 seed. But my guess is 3 as well.

Regardless, 15/2 is just a terrible bet. No value in it whatsoever, beyond Vegas believing they've won 2 out of 3 years. Last year, back in January when Villanova was #1 it was 10/1.

On paper, Tennessee and Nevada are outstanding bets. But I have trouble believing those programs can really win.

Then again, UNLV won in an era where Duke had all seniors on their team.

Not really. I'm assuming you are speaking of the 1990 championship blowout game. True, Robert Brickey , Phil Henderson, and Alaa Abdelnaby were seniors, but Christian Laettner was a sophomore and Hurley was a freshman.

Agreed. I think there's better value picks than what Nova would be. Gonzaga and UK are probably the teams I would roll with given odds .

Right. I mis-spoke. My intent was to say that was that Duke which is the best program in NCAAB used to have players stay all four years back then. And UNLV still won.

But it's funny. They weren't the best program yet. I think at that time, you'd have to give it to Indiana. Maybe UNC, maybe Georgetown was in the mix.

But probably it was Indiana, which they've fallen pretty far.

Gonzaga is a safer bet since they will always be a top 2 in their conference and a high seed in the West region.

Yes, indeed Laettner and Hurley both stayed four years which brought Duke success. But AckIes, Augmon, Greg Anthony, and Larry Johnson were all Seniors when Duke beat them in 1991.

So much of a team's success is due to who is coaching them, and since Tark was forced out, UNLV hasn't been back to a Final Four.

That's why their records are safe until they change the OAD pattern. But I think Nova is the best program right now. Some of the same teams are always in the mix; Nova, Duke, Kansas, UNC, and Kentucky.

Kentucky's Travis is the key:

PG Quade Green / Ashton Hagans
SG Immanuel Quickley / Jemarl Baker
SF Keldon Johnson / Tyler Herro
PF PJ Washington / EJ Montgomery
C Reid Travis / Nick Richards

gonzaga is a suckers bet every damn year

They have the edge since they are most certainly the #1 or #2 seed coming out of the West, but Nevada is loaded this season which may be the #1 in the West

This is laughably retarded. They performed at their seed or better in 9 of the last 10 tournaments. How can you be overrated year after year when you perform at your seed level or exceed at a 90% clip the past decade?

That's completely false, because they aren't great every year. Last year they weren't great(4 seed) made the S16. The year before they were great and made the title game. The year before they weren't great(11 seed) made the S16. The year before they were elite/great made the Elite 8. I'm not claiming to be a hoops expert, I'm just giving you the facts of why calling them overrated every year is dumb.
