What the hell would you go to Va Bch for. Just keep going another 2 hours and enjoy the Outer Banks with very little of the crowds you get in Va Bch.

We do go to OBX later in the summer every year but we also go to VA Beach a few times as well. I prefer the outer banks but kids love VA Beach

I grew up there and refused to go to the Oceanfront by the time I was 20. :suds: I still love to go back home and take a weekend on Ocracoke though.

Love it down there. We rent a house in Avon with a few other couples and it's usually the best week of the year

I've been waiting for teams to start wooing support groups like AA and NA etc. Lots of marketing opportunities!

Just what are you implying? That African Americans and Native Americans are nothing but drunks or drug addicts?

Perfect answer. Even if Carlson 100% wanted to stay in DC he & his agent should never voice that opinion at the risk of giving away $$ in the negotiation. We will see...

Johnny C has been a true Washingtonian and has done as much in the community as any Caps' player in recent years. Hope he stays and they figure out a deal.

But if not, he helped us win a Cup and has to be on the Caps top 5 defensemen of all time. This last season and playoffs was one to remember for him.

so why did Barry Trotz resign as head coach???

Yeah this is all the buzz around town but it makes no sense. His contract was up, so he didn't "resign" as he had no job to resign from. But that's the story. I see it as a negotiating move and nothing more.

what I read was that the SC win activated a previously unreported section of his prior contract and kicked in an automatic two-year extension for Trotz. However, being negotiated several years ago, the remaining years on that contract would be for significantly under what the current market for a SC-winning coach would earn him. They talked about an extension, but couldn't come to terms, so Trotz resigned from that contract.

I'd be shocked if they came to an agreement now. Reirden will take over in DC (a situation the Caps brass is NOT upset about at all), and Trotz will either take the Islanders job, or he'll wait for another job that he likes more to come open.

My guess is that Trotz will take a couple years off coaching and then take over the new Seattle franchise when it enters the NHL. He was fascinated with what Gallant was able to do with an expansion franchise, and he'll want the chance to take his own shot at building a franchise from scratch with the same rules.

Good take but I don't see a Stanley Cup winning coach taking a few years off.

In my scenario, he would commentate for NBC or ESPN during those two years. He's a good enough speaker and explainer of hockey concepts that he'd do well on tv

He could go back to modeling until he gets another job.

Well it appears as if you are right, looks like he is gone. I still think he will coach again soon but it appears not to be here. Hard to say what role he played in the Caps' success, guess we'll find out next season.

What's the point of signing a contract if no one ever honors It? Athletes hold out, coaches resign.
