Good. It is a rule that should never have been implemented. It has hurt both the NBA and college basketball.

Good. Imo it should be A. You're free to enter the draft after HS and B. If you're not drafted where you like you can go to college as long as you haven't signed an agent but C. Once you enroll you have to stay in college at least 3 years unless you sign with team who drafted you ( the team who drafted you retains your rights, if you're not drafted you have to stay at least 3 years for sure ). I think that's fair to everyone.

There’s no need for c.

Kids on academic scholarships aren’t blocked from going to work for google early.

No need to block them. Companies that want college grads will hire you conditionally your senior year but the offer only becomes official once you earn your degree. People with academic scholarships don't leave before they earn their degree unless they start their own multi-million dollar company while still in college.

I’m not against a hockey style concept where teams can draft them out of hs and hold their rights. But the players really lose on that end too. Unless you let the teams pay the players.

Just make the rules like baseball.

It works for them. The NBA just needs to set up a minor league is
all. The NCAA could force the NBA to do that.

When did the NBA get rid of their old rules?

Bird was drafted as a junior by the Celtics, then played his senior year at Indiana State. (He was a 5th year senior.)

Even that option is better than now.

I think the rule should be, if a kid is not drafted out of high school, then he must complete two years of college before being eligible to turn pro.

They changed that rule right after Bird signed with the Celtics, it was called the "Bird Collegiate Rule" which prevented guys from being drafted until they were ready to sign a contract
