9 most valuable Rangers by total WAR does not include Gallo or Odor View attachment 181151
That is even worse than what Odor ended at last year which was -0.2 in spite of 30 HRs. Too bad he is not able to duplicate what he did in 2016. The pitchers figured him out and he in turn has not adjusted. Gallo was a 3.2 in 2017.

His entire 'body of work' doesn't make any difference.........He's hitting MUCH better now and that's not debatable.

I've been Odor's biggest detractor for 18 months....I'm trying to give the young man a break, plus recognize the facts.
His entire body of work is probably more indicative of what his entire body of work will be for the rest of the season, including this latest hot spell. Sure, he may have completely turned his career around, but his past history says he is due a hot streak and then he is due another prolonged very cold streak.

I have always expected him to have a good month at some point. This appears to be it. He may even have another one in him late in the year.

Unfortunately this isn't even a very good streak, batting average in the 260s, OPS barely over .700

It is definitely a year for evaluation. However, evaluations did not start this season for everyone. When it comes to playing time if evaluation is the key then guys who have already had more evaluation should take a back seat to those who have been evaluated less. If they trade enough veterans in a few weeks then almost everyone will get a chance, but until then Profar and IKF have had much less evaluation than Odor.

Whatever happens, IKF needs to be playing every day either here or in Round Rock.

Sometimes I think people are supporting odor just because I’m against him.

The numbers for Odor definitely are not pretty and he has no business playing over ikf or Profar when you look at it objectively.

Odor has already had 2 years with the big club to get it right and hasn’t progressed. Send him down to work on some stuff.

As much as I agree, it's not clear to some and it is obvious some will not understand or just refuses to.:nono:

His post wasn't in support of Odor, just saying this current "hot" streak was bound to happen and he's likely to regress again soon

Rangers Reaction: Profar has been better, but here's why Odor will play

If all things were equal, Jurickson Profar would be the Rangers' starting second baseman upon Elvis Andrus' return.

Profar has been a better player than Rougned Odor this season and probably would have been last season had the Rangers made a move as Odor waged a yearlong battle at the Mendoza Line.

But all things aren't equal, not with the Rangers sitting on a potential $49.5 million disaster. That's the guaranteed amount Odor will make over the life of his six-year contract, which has 4 1/2 more years of living to do.

He needs to play. In the majors. The Rangers need him to improve.

He has actually been playing better, albeit marginally.

Odor finished Sunday batting .217, but .263 with seven walks over his past 22 games. He's still stuck on one homer, hit last month, and his slugging percentage was .311 entering the day.

That's not good.

Profar, meanwhile, had been slugging at .520 over the 26 games before Sunday. Then, he hit a three-run homer in the sixth to give the Rangers a brief lead and collected an RBI double in the seventh to get the offense going again.

For those who value the RBI, as players do, Profar's 41 this season are third on the team.

He's experienced some hiccups on defense, but so has Odor.

If nothing else, manger Jeff Banister said that he can envision Profar playing five games a week at second, shortstop and third base, and the Rangers can know now that they don't need to go get shortstop if Elvis Andrus opts out of his contract and doesn't re-sign.

They also have a second baseman if Odor can't figure things out.

If they sit Profar and jack him around AGAIN.....I’m going to root for odor to strike out every damn AB.

Why the hell cant they send Odor down to triple A?

Sorry I had to give you a negative rating because I hate the article so much, but I’ve probably given you 100’s of positive ratings before.

Ughhh

Good post. Again I will say the $49mil is why Odor is still around and Jeff agrees.

Him and JD agree.

That is a terrible way to make decisions and a bad sign about future decision making within the organization. To me I think what this tells us about their decision making skills is the worst part of this whole scenario.

If the team ever wants to be good again, they need to have a clear black and white viewpoint of “ the best player will play”. This is not sending a good message to the club house and the guys in the minor league system who are not stupid. If a guy shows up and outplays you, you should lose your spot to him, and it should become YOUR responsibility to get better.

I’m so mad right now ugh. We all need to root for odor to crater, bottom out, and get sent down because I just don’t see him ever being able to fix it on the fly at the major league level. This is such terrible decision making.

A couple of things that bother me. Note to Banny - Profar is not that good at SS. Plus if he thinks Andrus could opt out then we need to make a move but he has been playing great baseball and helps with clubhouse chemistry so I hope he stays. Secondly, I am not thrilled about him playing all over the place. And lastly, send Odor to AAA and don't let the money get in the way. If it turns Odor around then great. But to mess a guy around who is getting better and better over time in Profar and keep a guy who has been performing at the bottom of the league since 2017 because of money is sacrificing the team for the sake of 1 guy not to mention egos of management and ownership.

I want Odor to get better and be the best he can be for the Rangers and same for Profar. You have made Odor a personal problem and that will not benefit the Rangers or anyone else. You should want him and all the others to be the best they can be. Moving on as you have become a lost cause concerning Odor.

One thing lost in the game winning hit by Trevino was how well IKF read what was going on and was able to score the winning run. Many players with 1 out would have waited to see if it was going to drop and would make it to just 3rd. Shows he has natural baseball instincts.
