I would take just about everyone on that list honestly. Pending terms of the deal of course. I'd definitely add Seguin and Skinner to your list there. And I think Rinne could be an interesting option depending on how next season shakes out. He'll be 36, won't be super expensive or long term, but could be a good goalie to have for 2019-20, maybe 20-21, as they transition to Hart. And I expect the Preds will be looking at Sarros as their guy, so won't be looking to re-sign him. He had one of his best sv%'s of his career this year so maybe there's still enough in the tank for a year or two.

It's tough. Seguin is elite, for sure, but still unproven in the postseason and he's going to want enormous dollars. Skinner won't be as expensive, but has yet to even be in a playoff game. He's probably capable of producing more though with the right linemates. I'm good with Rinne for a season or two.

I just picked my ideal top four, really, but some of those guys I would probably pass on.

If we pick up Rinne its basically Hexy saying he has completely given up on Stolarz.

Certainly depends on how the next season goes, i'm just spit balling. I'll be interested to see what happens with Stolarz. He's RFA this summer, same as Lyon. And Hart will be on the Phantoms next season.

Personally i'm higher on Stolarz than I am Lyon, but it's hard to judge because Stolarz missed the whole season. In his press conference thing yesterday Hextall said he hadn't given up on Stolarz and it's better to have too many goalies. Lots of people think they just won't qualify Stolarz this season because there's no room. Based on that interview, i'd say it sounds like they plan on signing him and having one of Stolarz/Lyon/Hart in the ECHL until Neuvy gets hurt, then sliding them up. Or moving Neuvy of course.

I want everyone's thoughts on whether we should keep the two 1st round picks or trade them to move up? I kind of go back and forth on this and still undecided what would be the best move for us? It's a win..win imo. Part of me would like to take two guys in the 1st round and continue to stack the cupboard for the future and then if we move up we can get an imeediate impact player possibly? Just wanted your thoughts boys?

I'm with Las, I wouldn't make the trade until it's time to make the pick. Make sure someone you want is there. Wahlstrom and Tkachuk are my realistic targets. If Zadina is available when you're ready to make the trade, I'd do it for him too. But the more I hear Hextall talk, the more I think he's trying to get Dobson/Boqvist/Bouchard, all RHD.

At the very least it is getting interesting.

I think the Flyers are going to make a splash draft day or this summer.
Im so pumped with the future of this team. We are so close to something special
If we do make the splash i hope its as close as next season.

Boruk putting together the same conclusion as me. The fact that he apparently went hard after Ekblad (top 10 caliber RHD) makes me think he'll try to do the same this season for one of those 3. It's actually what I expect at this point.

Wilde also RHD more in the 14 or 19 range.
I cant wait until all this speculation is over and we start doing some of this stuff. Whether its free agents or trade or drafts or draft with trades i just want something to happen. Im on the edge of my seat.

This is what I am seeing a lot of. Elliott/ Lyon and Hart/Stolarz.

Plenty of right-handed defensemen available in round one of the draft, for sure. With Merkley included, it could be at least 5 or 6.

Trading up to #7 to get Dobson, Tkachuk or Wahlstrom works for me though.

We certainly have the assets still to trade up for a guy we like later in round one or even round two as well.

Stolarz should be clearly better than Lyon, but it's a bit of an unknown now with him coming off serious injuries.

Outside of signing Bozak as the 3C (which you might be able to do anyway) you're probably not seeing help from that trade for at least a year, probably two. Simmonds helps you compete next season. Isn't that the argument you guys have been making for the last 1,000 posts?

And I think you're selling low on Simmonds.
Ok but we aren't making a run til year after next remember lol, Def probably to low on Simmonds but for the right price he could go and I'd be fine with it. I really hope we make a better showing than last year, anything less or another 1st round exit to me is a step backwards.

Well I guess it depends on what Hextall wants to do now or later, I def don't believe in having teams that aren't ready to make a cup run, their all pros at this point they should all be able to compete as such. Add defensive help maybe another scorer if you can and keep adding pieces as you need them.

Also it's time for Hart to start getting some reps in net, if he makes no appearences this upcoming season I'll consider that a failure to.

From what I read, he will be the primary goalie to start the season for the Phantoms. Since 2010, we have used 2 goalies in a season 2 times with 3 being the norm. He should be up mid-year.

I would be absolutely floored if Hextall took Merkley. He doesn't fit Hextall's mold AT ALL. I'd be surprised if they had him on their board at all. Willingness to learn, work ethic, team player, all score big in Hextall's eyes and Merkley has lots of questions marks there.

I think Hextall is looking for a Flyers version for Drew Doughty. Top pair caliber RHD. Not very many of them in the league.

Carlson
Burns
Klingberg
Karlsson
Doughty
Subban
Jones
Barrie
Pietrangelo
Letang
Byfuglien
Hamilton
Ekblad

13 by my count, and some of those are arguable I would say. But less than 1 per team available.

I agree with that. A 1st round pick, a mediocre prospect, and rights to a FA is not the right price IMO. That's all i'm saying. If you get a good, young, 3C as part of the return (or if Simmonds is only part of what you give up), i'm good with that. OR a legit top 4 RHD, good with it. But I don't want another 'wait a few years' guy if you move Simmonds. I don't think that fits the time frame. I'd rather keep Simmonds.

I wouldn't consider it a failure, but I would be disappointed. I hope he at least gets a couple games as an injury call up or something.

I'd love to see him get called up and stay up but if he gets significant amounts of action I'll be very happy.
