I'm not a Spurs, Leonard, or Los Angeles fan (where he replied really wants to go), so I would love San Antonio to keep him and for him to keep sitting out. He used the injury excuse the whole season (which is OK if he didn't asked to be traded) and didn't really talk to anybody about anything. If he stayed this year and didn't play, it would be so out in the open that he would have no injury excuse.

I guess my problem is not so much that he's discontent with the Spurs. Nor that he wants to be traded, but I don't like the reality that players can shape where they are traded to. I think that lessens what the team can get and uses their leverage when they were plenty fine signing the contract in the first place.

This is changed if Leonard signed a contract with his former team and then it was traded to the Spurs, but if he was extended, he voluntarily chose to stay there longer and I don't think he needs to stay there forever, but I feel that some try to force their way to a team and that hurts the trading team.

Plus, for selfish reasons, I would like another team to not be vying for the Jazz spot in the playoffs.

SA dug their own grave with their sanctimonious nonsense attacking Leonard all season.

If I were a fan of them, it would matter to me. I don't think Leonard said anything. That doesn't mean it's entirely his fault, as I have seen franchises do this to a player before.

I guess what I should hope for is a lowball trade for the spurs get basically nothing for him and he gets to go to a better franchise.

The Lakers are generating so much interest this offseason that not even they could fuck this up.

Or could they? :scratch::noidea:

That’s what I’m hoping for, plus pops retirement.

I’d be thrilled with that result.

Unfortunately Buss and Kup aren’t in charge anymore or I’d say they very well could. Let’s see if Jeannie is better than the others.

I was wrong. Man enough to admit it. We're gonna suck now.

Excuse me while I go cry in my corner.

Woj tweeting it makes it a legit rumor

But none of it means anything until after he meets with Pop on the 21st.

I hope he isn’t as weak minded as LMA.

Stay woke, kawhi.

They were supposed to have the meeting before then, and they're all in NYC plus Timmy, but apparently Kawhi's group doesn't want him in a 1-on-1 meeting with Pop and Timmy and want to be present for it, from what I saw. His camp is so shady. If he leaves, his camp is why.

Y'all need jobs. Thread started at 10:30 this morning and there's already 14 pages.

I ain't reading all that. lol

According to Woj, the Lakers are his preferred destination.

Doesn't mean a thing unless the Lakers are the only place where he'll re-sign.

I assume it will cost the Lakers some combo of 2 out Ingram. Kuzma and Ball, plus this years 1st rounder, a couple of future firsts and Deng to make the money work.

If that's the case, then he might be able to drop his value so that the Lakers can present the best offer.

If he doesn't do that, the Celtics can offer the best package of any team. The Sixers can put together a package that's at least close enough to or may be even equal to the Lakers offer. The Spurs would pick that over the Lakers offer just to keep him from the Lakers.

If the Spurs can find a team that gives them the best offer that is willing to take him on a one year deal (aka the Paul George situation), they will most likely do that. Which I'm totally okay with.

I don't know as that I would call it weak minded. If Pop makes a convincing argument or it turns out the whole thing was just a miscommunication...no reason for him to leave.

Sixers offer depends on how badly fultz hurt his stock

One time would be a miscommunication. This was multiple jabs by multiple people.

This is like taking back the cheating gf after she begs you and says it’ll never happen again.

The weak cave in. The strong smartly run away from that nonsense.

Especially with how sanctimonious the spurs were

That's what I'm thinking. Seems like that uncle has some Lavar in him.

Obviously, I would love to see him in a Lakers uniform. Then he could go from being my favorite non-Lakers player to my favorite player period. lol

But, if he doesn't come to the Lakers (which seems a long shot) then I hope he stays in San Antonio. Just seems to fit there.

Yeah, the Lakers getting him is a long shot.

Maybe Magic can talk Larry Bird into taking Pop out for some beers and make a bet that if Pop passes out first, he has to trade him to the Lakers?

That might work. From what I understand, Bird can put away some beers.

Yeah, everything I'm reading is making it sound like this is all his camp's doing, mainly that fucking uncle of his, in an attempt to get the supermax and/or get Kawhi to not have that meeting with Pop. I'm really wondering how much of this is coming from Kawhi himself.

You might be right. I just think it can be worked out as long as cooler heads can prevail.

What @TheKlaw posted about Kawhi's team not wanting him to meet with Pop and Timmy by himself isn't a good thing for the Spurs.

Dude's been quiet as church mouse his whole career, never even a hint of an issue and all of the sudden...this?

No way that's all Kawhi.
