13. After seven years of working with Sergei Bobrovsky helping turn a raw talent into one of the best in the NHL, Ian Clark will leave the Columbus Blue Jackets when his contract expires at the end of June. “This is not a negative story,” he said this week. “I’m ready to move on, take on some new challenges. It’s time. Sometimes change is good.”

In the meantime, he will help the organization put together its scouting list for the draft. “There is going to be evolution. There are so many aspects to such a unique position. Sooner or later, teams will have a director of player personnel and a director of goaltending. They are kind of doing it now, but will make it more formal.” Washington did something similar last summer with longtime goalie guru Mitch Korn, and Clark has spoken to him about that.

Oh no.

Good luck on what's next Ian.

Anyone know what quality goalie coaches are out there? There's a good one here in town who worked in the AHL with Keith Kincaid a few years back, and had a lot of success with the kids from OSU this year.. Not sure if he's ready for the NHL though...

This a mattola? (Btw @mattola my bro texted me last night “what the hell is a mattola?” lol)

'Absolutely freaking out!': Blue Jackets prospect Carson Meyer and the parasite that ruined his season 'Absolutely freaking out!': Blue Jackets prospect Carson...

On Feb. 27, Meyer finally got an answer. Not from a visit to a doctor’s office, but a trip to the bathroom.

“I was going to the bathroom, just like normal,” Meyer said. “And it came out.”

It was a 25-inch tapeworm — the head, the neck and all of the segments, about 50 of them. It was orange. Meyer almost fainted.

“I Face-timed my mom and was like, ‘What the hell is this thing?’ ” Meyer said. “I was freaking out. Absolutely freaking out.”

Holly Meyer said she’s never been so horrified, or relieved.

His teammates rallied around him in much the way you would expect college boys to respond.

“They named it Teddy,” Meyer said.

Another ELC

Kid has one more year on his contract in Finland but looked pretty decent for France at the Worlds.

Could be a much needed shot in the arm two years from now. And another year in a top tier league won't hurt.

He will arrive the same time Elvis will most likely.

Benning said today changes are coming to the Canucks coaching staff ... the goalies struggled second half of the year ... maybe Ian Clark comes back to Vancouver

/and maybe Dan Cloutier goes to CBJ :thumb:

Notes from the cow town:
DEVELOPMENT CAMP PROFILE: Third year in 'The Q' taught Abramov new tricks

Wild Card. This kid lit up a league known for easy scoring chances, but he spent the second half of last year learning to play center and expanding his defense. He could make the team this year and make Milano expendable. Sniper who can hopefully play in a few different situations.

Guy was a battler, and gave 100% every shift. Problem is, 100% of him is like 48% of an NHL star. Good luck wherever you go, Scut Farkus.

Ohio State's Sean Romeo, Carson Meyer Participating In Columbus Blue Jackets Development Camp

Good news/Bad news. Nice that the Jackets are giving Sean a look, he had one hell of a season. Good for him, I hope he enjoys it. BUT OSU's goalie coach is holding a goalie camp this week that my son is at and Sean was supposed to be a guest instructor. Now he's downtown and my son won't learn from him.

Also a rumo(u)r that the Jackets are calling about Jay Beagle.

So there's been some backhanded slaps going from Rutherford and Johnson at Columbus. JJ said he is happy to be on a team with a winning attitude and Rutherford said something along the lines of he doesn't understand why Columbus wouldn't re-sign JJ (we can read stats and see stuff)

Parting shots: Blue Jackets' John Tortorella angered by...

Tortorella isn't having it. Text if you don't want to give The National Enquirer of Sport any clicks:
“All I know is, this organization, from the lawyers, the front office, J.D. (John Davidson), the managers, the coaches, players … has done nothing but try to help Jack,” Tortorella told The Athletic. “And for him to backhand slap us like this is utter bullshit, and he should know better.

“No one wishes anything bad to happen to him and his family. We wish him the best. But for him to put it the way he put it today is bullshit. And to have a general manager question our decision-making from three hours away, he must be a fucking magician.”

Tortorella noted that the Blue Jackets’ organization has “bent over backward” to help and support Johnson in the wake of his bankruptcy proceedings and his estrangement from his parents.

Johnson’s comments felt like a slap, Tortorella said.

“That’s what pisses me off,” he said. “He doesn’t have enough balls to call me back, because I’ve tried to get in touch with him. You don’t shit on an organization that’s done nothing but try to help you. We all know Jack has had some problems along the way here; it’s very well-chronicled. All we’ve done is try to fucking help him.

“I love the fucking guy (Johnson). I’ve had him on the Olympic team. I get him on the World Cup team. I love the guy. But for him to do this is ridiculous. He has got to start pointing the finger at himself, not other people.

“If I’m a (former) teammate of his and I play against him next year … my gosh … ”

“The thing that pisses me off the most is a general manager in this league questioning and talking about our decision-making,” Tortorella said. “Shut the fuck up!

and

“But that can’t get in my way as far as making the right decisions for this hockey club, and that’s all we do, so Rutherford should shut the fuck up.”

Angry Torts has arrived. Hope that means that Quenneville is our next coach when Torts kills a reporter this year.

We go there Nov 24.

They don't come here until 2/26. The boos will drown the cannon out.

By the first meeting, the Penguins should at least have their answer as to why we let him go.

Or Jack Johnson's family That quote is something a mob boss says as you politely drive away before your car explodes a few seconds later.
