Would love to know what team @WiggyRuss will be rooting for when lebron leaves

He has stated pretty clearly that he wants the Cavs to go full rebuild, which is where they should try to head.

The challenge is that they have a lot of vet contracts that are not easily movable, which may prohibit them from truly bottoming out for a couple more years.

Moving Love would be the first order of business. They should wait on the other contracts like Hill and TT because they would have to attach substantial assets to move them this coming season.

But yeah. I can't envision LeBron staying at this point.

Assuming the lose this series and Lebron leaves...

1. Accept that they are at least 2 to 3 years away from contending in a best case scenario.
2. Move Kevin Love. He has real value now. Getting some future assets for him now would be the best use of him.
3. Don't move Hill or Smith until later next year when they will have essentially expiring contracts.
4. Make a decision on Clarkson and TT. Stuck with both of them for 2 years. Probably best to just live with it but that will likely ensure mediocrity for 3 years.

Thing is, if they move Love they will be a bottom 8 team next year. They won't completely bottom out, but they will surely be in the lottery.

IMO, they are a lottery team the moment Lebron leaves. Just a matter of whether they are the 14th or 5th pick.

Well looks like the Cavs are stuck on big contracts that all expire the same year:

All 2 years remaining
Love - 23 M
Hill - 20M
Thompson - 16.4
JR - 13
Clarkson - 12
Korver - 7

First order of business is to discuss with Lebron that if he chooses to go somewhere give us the first opportunity for a possible sign and trade. Might be able to pick up a draft pick and/or an asset or two in the process.

Second I would shop Love to the Grizzlies for the #4 pick and Chandler Parson's contract. Parson's contract also expires after another 2 years, so basically you get the draft pick. Memphis probably does this move especially if they have no intention of moving Gasol. With Conley coming back, that gives them a really formidable trio in the West.

Then you begin the tank. If the pick for next year falls 1-10 I think they get to keep it otherwise it goes to Atlanta. Same for 2020.

Going into the 2019 season, you'd have 2 high 2018 Lottery Picks, 1 2019 Lottery pick and nearly 91M in expiring contracts (including the Parsons deal above) that you could either try to move or keep and save for Free Agents.

Where do you think your Cavs should go from here, Brian?

Oooh, damn, using your big momma junes words now.

Your attempts at trash talk need a bit more creativity. Surely you've picked up some new material from what the other dishwashers have said to you though?

Having a quick break from rubbing lotion on your mom?
