That lineup today took me back to the days of Shane Halter, Craig Monroe, and Mike Maroth.
Of course they win using junk. Go figure.

To the casual fan outside of Detroit, there was probably one recognizable name in that lineup: Victor Martinez. And he went 0-for-4!

The Tigers score 5 runs in a game that Michael Fulmer starts, and lose.

The Tigers score 5 runs in a game that Blaine Hardy starts, and win.

You just can't make this shit up!

C'mon Gardenhire, show a little guts and creativity. Sit VMart and replace him with Victor Reyes. (or Dewel Lugo). Create the true "Who the Hell is THAT" Lineup.

VMart......I said at the start of the season....give him to Memorial Day and see if he has anything left to offer. OPS only around .650, he'll still give you an RBI every so often, but I think it is time to consider Stewart who is hitting well in AAA. Let Cabrera finish the year at 1b (if he can stay healthy) and use Stewart as DH and in LF against lefties.

Castoff from the Twins system. Dude was looking for a job -- any job -- last November, and the Tigers signed him to a minor league deal.

Sometimes dumpster diving has an unexpected payoff.

Here's the rub: If the Tigers were all-out to win this season, I would cut Victor loose in a heartbeat and bring up Stewart. But because they have little chance of winning, it doesn't make sense to lose an option and an arbitration year for Stewart.

As a fan, it is definitely maddening watching Victor hit grounders into the shift, or popping out with RISP.

Stewart will be 25 before the 2019 season begins. He has done all the stops thru the system. If he is still hitting well in Toledo when school gets out in Michigan...and VMart is nowhere near .250...I think its time to take a look at him. My only exception would be, is if Cabrera is physically not able to play 1B and needs to be the DH. BUT, if that is the case, VMart is gone anyway and we see Jim Adduci called up to back up Hicks at 1B.
(Those D'Backs must be playing hardball with Victor Reyes...you'd think they'd take some cash to let Detroit keep the guy and let the Tigers send him to AA)

In his next trip out to visit Ryan Carpenter on the mound today, I think Gardenhire will be holding a bus pass to Toledo.

We kinda knew that Toledo would have little to nothing to offer in the way of pitching help for the big league club. I suspect they will purchase Josh Turley or AJ Ladwig, who have started games for the Mud Hens, sooner or later.

Miggy - No HEART? Hard to believe. LOL

Tigers are stuck with a $154mil 'sandbagger'? Detroit's front office hopefully has told Miggy and his agent to check out teams who would be interested in taking his contract, poor attitude, and aging body.

That contract has zero chance of aging well. I loved that Mr. I was loyal to a lot of players, but damn it hurts on the back end....

Hopefully, the Detroit ''brain trust'' meets with Miggy and explains the situation. If he gets out there and plays (hits) well, he MIGHT generate some interest from wealthier (American League) franchises to explore trading for him. Yes, Detroit will have to pick up 10s of millions of dollars to make any kind of trade....I'm guessing $40-50+ million. And even then the return in players will be minimal.
The alternative is keeping a guy who is owed $30mil a year and may see A LOT of time on the DL in the coming years.

(The Yankees need to rescue us. LOL. Imagine Cabrera, Stanton, Judge and Sanchez in their lineup!!!!)

Yeah, I was thinking more in his age 38-39 years it would be money down the toilet. Looking like it will be his age 34 to 39 years.
