quite honestly on the Lakers end of things i'm pleased with the direction they're going...

beats what Short Buss was doing by a mile...

I agree.
If LeBron wants to go to L.A., im sure Magic will take him.
Does it instantly make you better?
Of course.
Is it worth it if it gets you a title or 2?
Of course.
Is winning a title or 2 a probability?
I would say no.
So, if thats accurate, long term you are better off staying on the path you’re on now IMO.

and this is my thought process to a TEE...

continue to improve and develop for future title runs rather than selling out for a couple of "good seasons"...

because you see the same thing as i do. outside of entertainment of course it all means nothing without titles...

Beween our love for food and all things Lakers......I love you, bro.....

What do you think @Retroram52 would think of it?

My guess would be that he'd feel about the same as you and I. From his posts, it seems like he is perfectly happy with the kids and prefers to stay the course and see if they can develop like the Warriors.

But I also know that he's a die hard Lakers fan and if they, for example, manage to land Lebron and PG...he'll be fine with that as well.

Do the Lakers win a title or 2 with James? I think it all depends on who comes to the Lakers with him since it's unlikely he just decides to come here by himself.

Golden State's run is this year and maybe next season before things start to fall apart there.

Difference is that this is Cavs fans one and only time to be serious contenders.

Not comparing the history of the Lakers and Heat, but both franchises can fall, then find their way back to the top.
Reality is, assuming Cavs dont win it all this season is that James will have 1 title in 11 seasons there, and lets say are ‘fortunate’ to have the 1.

Nah, bring James and another guy.

Been losing too damn long. A title or 2 would be nice but I just want us to be relevant again. This stretch has been the worst since I've been a Laker fan. The only worse stretch for me was when we had the Cedric Ceballos/Elden Campbell days and winning 28-30 games. When we had Van Exel and Jones, drafting in the lottery was new for us since we were used to winning.

Really not sure why folks keep questioning @ChiefsLakers67 about his stance on Lebron possibly joining the Lakers.

He's maintained his opinion on the matter literally since the first Lebron to the Lakers rumors started years ago and has never wavered.

It's simple, he doesn't want him on the team. Period.

He still be a Lakers fan. He might cut Lebrons face out of any Lakers pictures and likely won't be buying any Lebron t-shirts or jersey's. But he'll still be a fan.

Personally, I don't particularly agree with it, but I understand. Btw, I know a couple of Lakers fans who don't post here who have views very similar to CL.

This. Been going back and forth on it for the last year or so but I want him.

You hear that @ChiefsLakers67?

Gonna have the welcome to the Lakers party at CL67's and he's gonna be on the grill again.

Bad option. @ChiefsLakers67 doesn't even know how to turn a grill on. He microwaves everything.:heh:

I also understand that position.
My question would be though, is being relevant again ( assuming no titles) worth the eventual fall back to irrelevance once he leaves, declines, retires?

Yeah, I'm good either way.

On the one hand, I like what I'm seeing out of the kids and would be just fine with continuing the Lakers own "process".

On the other, if they were to land both Lebron and PG...it makes them contenders again as soon as next year.

I do understand CL's point about Lebron getting credit for the Lakers turnaround and possible titles if he comes to LA. Especially when the Lakers have been working towards that already.

For me, end of the day though, I just want to see the Lakers back in contention (however it happens) and really don't care who gets the credit.

I would be fine if the Lakers didn't contend for anything until the Browns win 8 games in a season.

I'll say yes for this alone....having James there to teach the youngsters we'd have while he's there. That right there is invaluable......passing the torch to the new generation. It could help them in the future in winning titles.

Why is there an assumption that the Lakers would fall back into irrelevance when Lebron retires/leaves?

We all know that Lebron won't be coming to the Lakers by himself. The most rumored guy to be coming to the Lakers with him is PG, who is still young. The Lakers also have a good young core that would be learning from Lebron and whoever came with him.

Cleveland fell apart when he left them the first time because he was all they had. However, if not for Bosh's health issues, the Heat were likely still at least good enough for the ECF after Lebron left.

ok, then i'll ask this question. how good of a "teacher" do you think he is...?

in fact, from what i've gathered is he doesn't really put his energy into that area, which is why the narrative on his "leadership" is overblown...

I'm pretty much the same but really want to contend more than just sticking with the kids. The last several years have been tough on me.

Every player teaches on the floor when a missed assignment is blown, even if it isn't talked about much in the media.....he gets in the youngsters ears and tells them what to do next time. And what they should have done.

Nobody can convince me otherwise.
