Yeah, they’ll still make the playoffs next year.

When there's that much competition that's not surprising.

It's been 3 years and many of those transferred long ago. Some of them didn't even qualify so I'm not even sure why they are listed.

Warmack graduates this week, he'll grad transfer somewhere. I bet he's still got 2 years left. Seemed like a good kid, never got in any trouble as I can recall and if he's already graduating he obviously kept that part up. Hope he does well, but I think he mostly came to Alabama following his brother, not because he was expected to be a starter etc.

Mehki Brown is the only other one I see that is a transfer off last year. But he didn't play, he was the idiot who tried to punch someone in the NCG, and then made that arm hook tackle later.

Flowers didn't qualify, Taylor got kicked off the team within 3 months because of DV accusations. Sheffield is the only one that's a real loss off that list. No clue why he left, but that was also 2 years ago like most of the others.

So basically, it's old news.

The article says " Alabama sees it's Tenth player from the 2015 class leave". Since this tenth player just left, I'm pretty sure that makes it new news.

Bob just got his third divorce.
Bob could have gotten divorced the first time 20 years ago and the second time ten years ago.
It still means that first sentence is correct.

Who's debating if it's factually correct? I'm just pointing out that those 10 players will have no effect on the team from last year, and it's not like we are having to replace them all at once.

14 gone if you count the ones who left for the NFL already. The 4 that left for the NFL are the ones that will have an effect.

Calm down . I just said it's new news if the ten player from that class just left. I didn't claim it was newsworthy.
And if any team can handle having to play younger players it's Alabama.

I wonder if Alabama will keep their #1 ranking for recruiting in 2015. Or will they have to give the trophy back?

Sheffield is the only one that's a real loss off that list.
Unlike a lot of places, Bama has classes above/below that can cushion loosing ten out of a class. Probably need the room for new five stars anyhoo.

I've seen statement similar to the one I bolded with other teams that have kids leave for various reasons. And the reasons you provided are real varied. No single or common reason.

Here's my question to everyone and not just 4d. If losing players like these weren't a "real loss", why were they offered scholarships in the first place? Bad evaluation? I don't see bad evaluation as a real reason from Bama/Saban or some of the others.

It's only not a loss because they've been replaced already with other players(better usually). The 4 we lost to the NFL are obvious real losses because they were talented starters.

Seem's pretty common that some kids don't live up to their potential. They were good in highschool, but just can't make it to the next level. Call it bad evaluations or whatever, just seems to be the nature of the beast. It's hard to say because unless they are getting in trouble, the reasons are generally private. Ben Davis is a 5 star kid we recruited a few years ago(maybe even that same class) and he still hasn't seen the field much. Rumors are he is soft, but nobody really knows.

But like Blake Barnett was a 5 star and supposedly a great QB in highschool. His true freshman year there was a ton of hype about him being QB. He obviously thought more highly of himself than the reality after he leaves Alabama after 4 games his sophmore year, transfer to ASU and gets even less reps in a full season with them. Apparently all we ever learned is that he was terrible terrible terrible in practice, and the players didn't like him very much.

He was a bit of a loss in 2016 for depth, but now 2 years later not so much. Especially after he's done nothing since and is transferring from ASU once again. Sheffield left even before him, so we've moved on from him too, but he's at Ohio St, and we could have used the depth in the secondary is the only reason I mention him as a loss. Probably a starter this year if he stays, unless he bolted for the NFL. Barnett = probably 4th string QB.

Just guess the next step was too fast for him.

Another thing we also would need to know is how many were encouraged to leave?

You can let them save face by announcing a transfer, but you are also happy for
whatever reason the player never worked out, is leaving.

Ole Miss was the program that was blatant in dumping kids from their roster. A few years
back they would be tossing 10 a season and ALWAYS recruited over the limit.

You could see that their recruiting was basically "hit or miss" and then move on.

At Bama were roughly 5% of the NFL draft was made up of their players...they can handle
the hit.

Interesting. Still think there's plenty of talent for Alabama and they should be a playoff team again next yr.

Yeah, they’ll still make the playoffs next year.
As the first 10-2 non-conference-champion entry?
If the committee does make such a move, it's bound to be for the team after which they all secretly lust.

You think they are losing 2 games? Name them.
