The course opens tomorrow!

I stopped in and chatted with the pro and his assistant the other day. They couldn't have been nicer and more accommodating with all of my questions. Tomorrow's supposed to be pretty nice but Saturday is supposed to be in the 70s!

...then rain and shit the rest of next week but I'm finally going to get to play the new course~

I've got 6 rounds posted so far and one coming on Saturday...not much to brag about or be ashamed of...yet.

Well...actually my 38-52 (90) was a little of both....but I won't digress.

Oh man, I never had so much fun scoring shitty on a golf course! Hit some terrific shots and some real stinkers. Prolly around a 90 if I was keeping score but we really were just having a blast in amazement of the first beautiful day of the spring and this incredible golf club. Everything is done right at this place.

Top of the hill, strangely, the tenth tee.

The 18th tee.

My buddy on the 9th green. Zoom in and look at the perfect consistency of the grass even for opening day. There are many greens with undulations and big breaks and they're fast in the summertime but they roll so true that when you get a flat 4 footer, they're actually pretty easy.

...and the all the perks of a private club. Everything is nicely appointed and nothing is ignored. It's really convenient that all transactions are on my account. I give the pro shop my member number and I jump in a cart and go. At the bar I order a beer, tell the dude my number and the gratuity is even billed. No wallet transactions all day.

So we had a great first day and you can see from the pics that we had the place to ourselves. It's gonna be a great year. I'll go back today but then we're supposed to get a week of shitty weather.

Probably just the camera angle. It's the 9th that's in the pics on the previous page.

One of my good shots yesterday was from a fairway bunker about 60yds out. The shot had to carry a greenside bunker and I hit it perfectly to 12ft. It would likely take me a bucket of balls to repeat!

Actually, it was the 8th and it is very large.

Played much better yesterday. I Spiethed the last hole with a double for an 83. At least it wasn't a shot at 79! Tried to flop over a bunker, failed to clear it, splashed out and missed the putt. I'm confident that when I learn this course, I'll get my sub 80 round at some point.

Congrats. Low 80s the first time or two out on a course is nothing to sneeze at. I'd love to be consistently low 80s high 70s even on courses I frequent, even though the frequency is maybe once every couple weeks to play. Enjoy your membership and hopefully you'll start to see scores creep down as you get used to the layout.

Thanks man!

To me there's a lot more than a one stroke difference between an 80 and a 79! Anything in the 70s is a fine score in my book. I will not consistently break 80 on this golf course but a few times a summer would be nice.

Had to bump this for my 77 yesterday! It all came together and I was killing it all day. 10 GIRs and a few fringes. We caught a 5some at the par 3 14th and they called us up. I hit a great 5 iron 167 over the river so that was sweet and when I two-putted, I was +2 on the 15th tee. Sucked that we had to play through cause I was on a real easy cruise control. Bunkered and bogeyed 15 and then pulled a drive into the trees on 16....yikes, missed a double bogey putt for a triple. ouch.

Solid effort on 17 for par. Then 18 had a nasty flag and I pitched the ball up the slope...trickled trickled.....down the other side 20 ft away...fuck. Left the comebacker short but then canned a nice 7 footer to hold it to the 77.

Needless to say, I got drunk and smiled the rest of the night~

I'm looking to make the jump as well with a local club. It's about 20 minutes from my house and on my way back from work, so I can pop in for a quick 9. With my current age I'd have a discounted rate for 3 more years until 40 that isn't a whole lot more than what I currently pay in greens fees at other courses I play 30-40 minutes away from my house in the other direction. With the pool, gym, tennis courts, playgrounds, and really good restraunt, my family can hang out while I get another round in.

I've played the course a couple times during t charity tournaments a few years ago and it's a good layout. They switched from bent grass greens to bermuda last year, but like many other courses along the east coast, they got hit with winter kill, but are in really nice shape now. Hoping to get a chance to play it today/this week again before applying depending on the weather.

That's terrific and you won't regret it. I'm still pinching myself.
