speaking for myself, i find i enjoyed this past season SO much more than the previous one. i am looking forward to better yet in 2018. will be anxiously watching the coming moves that will be made and only hope that the same ownership does not send us back down the same toilet we're trying to climb out of.

don't know about anyone else but i'm really happy houston pulled it out. no city deserves it more right now and it's cool that we kicked their asses the only other time they appeared in the series. :D

If this young rotation builds off of what they started last year. Along with Moncada... and then you get some of the other young bats in there and some begin to pan out. I really have some cautious optimism about this season. That's not even counting on Kopech's progression to reach the majors this year either.

I feel like we're in the same spot the Cubs were a few years back. I just can't tell if this is our 2014, where we continue to build slowly... or... could it be our 2015? Where the Cubs rose into contention a year earlier than expected? Probably the former, but I'm still excited to see some more of our young guns make their way up.

I know everybody talks about the cubs youth being the reason for their World Series run but it was all veterans carrying them besides Bryant. Rizzo, zobrist, and fowler tore it up and their pitching was awesome with a bunch of veterans and Hendricks.

cool fact. the player with the best ab to k ratio in the game today is ben revere with a 10.91 and he ranks 639th all time. nellie fox ranked 5th all time with a 42.74 ab's per k. in fact, the most recent player player in the game to even come close was tony gwynn and he wasn't all that close with a 21.4 and ranked 92nd.

anyone here looking forward to 2018 season? ..... anyone out there?

Of course. Very much so.

Luis Robert grand slam the other day was a great sight. Hard to stay patient waiting on those guys to come up.

i think we're all alone here.

but anyway ........... i expect a .500+ team this year. but the fun will really be just watching how this team develops ... who flourishes, who fails, who's brought up and when. what stupid and ignorant things the front office does to mess this team up is also high on the list.

I feel the same way. A little over .500 but more than likely not quite there yet.

The others who post during the season are still around SportsHoopla. I'm sure they'll get around here once opening day rolls around.

Nope, you guys aren't alone. I just joined this sports forum yesterday and my early postings have been on the Bears board. But the Sox are my oldest love, even tho I prefer football to baseball overall. Id, I remember you from the ESPN days. And only a lifelong and diehard Sox fan would have Nellie Fox for his avatar.

I'm not as positive as you guys with respect to our record this year, I see us finishing with a sub-.500 record. But I'm about as hopeful and enthusiastic for us come 2019 and beyond as a Sox fan can get.

I am still here. Waiting for the season to begin. I am hoping for a .500 season but I dont have high hopes for this season other than young guys growing. I am really hoping we make some noise next season if we can get pitching.

4 dingers in our first few trips through the lineup. Very nice.

Not sure why opposing pitchers are still speeding up Davidson's bat by throwing him off-speed anywhere near the zone.

By that logic... couldn't I just as easily say that the Rangers getting shutout in hot Arlington, Texas proves the ball is dead? lol

How about Shields not giving up a hit in 5 innings?

Edit - Didn't see that Texas got a run to avoid the shutout in the 9th. Still...

I'm just saying anderson and abreus hrs don't look like home runs. They look like fly outs. Davidsons were all crushed. I'll take it but don't like the juiced ball. The home run corriea hit in gm 6 of World Series was the dumbest hr I've ever seen.

I can point to HR's from any season that looked like that. I still don't buy that the ball is juiced. Have not seen enough evidence.

Abreu is a lot like Frank. He does not need to get all of a ball to get it out.

Correias hr in game 6 was the only hr in history baseball to go out at that launch angle and exit velocity. You have to be crazy not to think the ball is juiced. How do home runs just suddenly skyrocket the second half of the 2015 season and continue to spike at a crazy rate since
