I never have been a huge Tiger fan.
He has been a total jackass for most of his pro career.
I want to like Tiger. I liked the way he waited for Snedeker on the greens today.
If his off the course behavior gets better, I believe we’ll see a kinder Tiger.
I said if.

I also am very curious how the young guys will handle the roars.
The previous generation did not handle it well at all. He ruined a lot of dreams.

Going all out, full throttle from weird spots, like he did from under that one tree at Augusta, should be a no no. Only time will tell if he has the discipline to back off of those.

129 mph is still szssikk! I don’t know how long he can achieve that type of speed.
My swing speed is 110 mph and my drives average about 250 yds.

Some really good drivers out there right now. You should be able to get more ball speed with 110 mph

So what I don't get is this:

Tiger's swing speed off the 14th was the highest recorded anywhere on Tour this year.

What in God's name is Tiger doing swinging that hard? What is a golfer his age with 4 back surgeries doing swinging that hard?? And that is not a one off either. His swings speed has been up there.

And equally as confusing is that NBC kept bragging about it like it was something to be proud of.
I won't touch how a guy his age with such long layoff can be swinging harder than the young guns on tour.

I will save you my conspiracy theories for later. But why would he be swinging that hard? ..it's so damn foolish.

Tiger is not listed on the PGA Stat leader board for some reason but his stat page says his Avg club speed is 122.
That would put him in second place of all players on the tour. These stats are from this year only.

Somebody please explain this to me.

He would, yes.

But you clearly avoided the reason why a 42 golfer with bad back is swinging the club harder than anyone on tour.

I don't blame you.

maybe his back is finally fixed. Maybe his back is now completely metal and his transition to cyborg is nearing completion.

I guess he thinks that either he is going to win golf tournaments, or not play golf. There is no middle ground.

I don't think it matters. His greatest asset was in his ability to get the ball in the hole. There are a lot guys who can hit it as far and farther... always have been.

Phil last week and now Tiger. The tour is loving this. Because as good as a lot of these young guys are, nobody has really captured the public's attention. It's almost as if there are too many of them... Dustin, Justin, Jordan, Rory, Jason and a handful of others.

My dad said he was done and I thought he was kind of young to be done. '

If he just got some practice Tournament's in......I thought he could bounce back.

Why would it not matter?

The tour is loving this and so it would make sense to all that Tiger's longevity would then be of the utmost importance.

That said, why is Tiger's swing speed the fastest than anyone's on tour say 1 player? He's 42 with 4 back surgeries.

Swinging that hard is nothing short than playing Russian roulette with your back.

His swing speed is one of the least important aspects of his game, as far as regaining his prior form, is what I meant. He's always swung hard. People have said that it would shorten his career since very early on in his career and it very well may have. But tempo is a very difficult to change, I'd argue it's the most difficult thing to change... even for a pro.

I don't know about that. He wasn't the longest but he was long and ridiculously accurate with driver. I'm sure if he were content to spray the ball all over the place with inconsistent results then he would have been be outdriving Bubba but that's just not his game plan. His thing when he was rolling is he was just the best at every aspect of the game and if a couple of things weren't working it didn't matter because he could beat you with something else. Think Phil said that but it could have been another top player on the tour. Maybe it was the least important but the least important for him was always really important.

He was long.. possibly the longest when he joined the tour.. except for JD. But he was never ridiculously accurate. He was the best at getting it in the hole after his drive.. approach shots, around the green and putting. If he can recapture some of that, he'll contend on a regular basis again as long as his body holds up.

Yeah, you're right. Just looked up the stats. Guess I was misremembering because it was so long ago and he was always so clutch with it late in rounds.

Yeah, "clutch late in rounds" is another thing he was the best at.

It doesn't look like it's going to happen this week. He's just not putting well enough today. He left an uphill 12 footer about a foot short a couple of holes back. At that level that doesn't happen when they're putting well.

Fans are now starting to get really annoying again as far as Tiger goes. Just waiting for the 'get in the hole' right after he makes contact at the tee on a par 5 to get going.

LOL @ Reed. Puts it at 18 from 25+ and it rolls right back down to the exact same spot. 3 puts his way out of the tournament. The guy's just so unlikable.
