As we approach the winter of "500 million for Bryce Harper"

So I have the #4 pick in my big money draft, so I started to look at Goldy/Arenado/Betts/Harper

Correct me if im wrong here

Has Bryce Harper lived up to the hype a grand total of ONE season his entire career, and been otherwise nothing more than "pretty good" ?

Im starting to think this is the most overhyped player (so far) ever

You should stop thinking...especially if thinking Arenado is an equivalent. Arenado is a product of Coors offensively.

Terrible Feedback so far

We would all love to have Bryce Harper

Im measuring him vs what will become most definitely the biggest contract ever

24 Years old.

.285/.386/.515/.902/140 OPS+

I wish the Indians had some players that were overhyped like that.

Maybe, maybe not, his road splits dont reflect that...And he plays a far more premium position as good as anyone in the game

But this isnt about my fantasy options, Im talking real life as Bryce gets discussed as a 300-400 million player

Again, this is about the dollars he will be demanding, and whether his career has dictated that so far

I dont know how you value RBI's, but not one season with 100 runs knocked in

yeah, hes only 24. but he was touted as a game changing type of phenom. to date, hes been GOOD. his one really good season was borderline great.

we agree on this. he was supposed to destroy baseball.

It's worth noting that at 22 years old, he had the best offensive season by a player since Barry Bonds' bloodstream was 2/3rds anabolic steroids.

Thats all Im saying

if he repeats another very good season, and not a true MVP year where he plays 150+ games, I wonder if he still gets the insane contract thats predicted

I dont want this to become a "Bryce Harper sucks" thread

I just was honestly surprised by his very good, not quite "Great" career this far

fanned 131 times (to 124 walks, yes)
didnt use his speed, only swiped 6 bags vs 21 the next year.
didnt come close to 200 hits

borderline great

Yeah, I don't consider 22 mlb HR's "pretty good" as a 19 year old. Apples to apples, the .285/150/421he has posted through age 24 vs the .258/84/223 through age 24 of another "pretty good'' slugger....Barry Bonds. Kid is a 5X AS at 24. OP might want to google David Clyde...

The list of 24 year olds with a 140 OPS in 3000+ PAs is a short one.

I just have a little pause when its been thrown around he is a lock for a minumim of $400 mill

not "GREAT" yet. yet.

he needs to be healthy and consistent for a few years.
