My buddy and I have tired of our current league at the muni we play so we're going to apply for membership to this place:

It's a very nice private club and the membership fees are reasonable. So I'm very excited about next year 'cause my motivation to continue to practice and play well could use a shot in the arm. The name of the club is the Wyantenuk Country Club in Egremont, MA.

I'm told that the membership committee is meeting on the 17th so I should know my status shortly after that. Not too worried but it'll be nice to get confirmation.

Cool...It's always nice to join a club with a buddy unless you know members already.

I've toyed with joining a club, the non golf events wouldn't interest me much so the playing golf numbers just haven't worked out for me unless I can play twice a week.

It will light a fire in your game to play in the member-member, weekly games, etc.

Course looks awesome...Hope it all works out on the confirmation.

Enjoy!

Went to their website to check it out. Would have been nice to have more pics of the course but got really intrigued with the Lobster sammich on the lunch menu :suds:

Good luck brother.

Surprisingly, there aren't many pics of the holes online. I'll take some and post them hopefully. The course isn't spectacular but the conditions are immaculate. They spend a lot of money on the course and grounds.

The board I'm told meets tomorrow night and I'll know on Thursday if I'm in.

Wow...must be prestigious on some level. The equity clubs here might still have you go thru an approval process with the membership.

Most here...you do submit an application and they do some level of screening but typically it's a day or two at the most.

I'm a member at a semi-private mostly for the range privileges, my buds like it, the price is right, and it's close by. I hate the layout, it forces you to make a decision off the tee on every hole...it's not grab the driver or 3w and swing away to get the hole started.

They redid the greens about 3 yrs ago. They have seasoned well and are fast and true most weeks. That has made it more playable.

There are two sister courses that are part of the same ownership and we can play those for the same cart fee only price but after 2 on those. It's golf...plus I still do the GolfNow thing...most of the time I get deals on Sat for <$50 at nice tracks.

It's very selective and you must be sponsored by two current members. My members endorsements are solid and I will truly be shocked if they refuse me.....still though, I keep checking my e-mail!

I used to have a semi-private membership but haven't joined a club in years. I played in a Wednesday night league at a public course the past 11 years but if I get into this new course, I'll be quitting that league.

Now the great challenge will be to not get overly psycho this spring and by the time the course opens in April have my swing all fucked up by practicing and hitting the simulators!

I'll def have to take some pics 'cause there's hardly anything online. Here's the tee of our par 5 13th:

Found a couple of pics of the downstairs men's pub. The main restaurant is in the barn upstairs.

Rules Rules Rules

Be mindful, some of the clubs are Nazi's about their clubs rules.
Even if management is casual about it, there is always some old bastard who's notorious for rating people out.

Congrats!!!!

Congrats man!

I'd love to be a member of a club but don't have the money... Though there is one in Braintree that I probably could get into

Though I have a question for you @NEhomer be honest... You bought those two "references" hookers right? I mean come on.... :dhd:

Serious note: are they friends of yours? Or did you manage to get onto the course and play one day and hook up with them

Congrats!!!!

Thanks...just got my welcoming letter and in it they explain that cell phones are permitted in the main parking lot only; not on the course or in the restaurant and bars. I think I'm gonna really like this place.

Lol!

I've lived in the area my whole life and had the same dentist for the past 20+ years. He's my first sponsor and a lady I graduated high school with and help in putting on plays with is a member with her husband and they were the second. I know another family and one of the selection committee members I went to kindergarten with so it wasn't really gonna be a problem.

It's always good to have friends in high places! Best of luck, practice, practice, practice!

Wow, that's spectacular. Do you know what the annual membership fee is?

Sure as heck is!!! Never had the pleasure of playing but always wanted too.

Sadly I don't... I have only seen where we can "request" information.. I am not gonna do it since i know it;s like 100-150 bucks a round so a place like that the membership has to be very high

Seriously you know what? What I need to do is avoid practice! Not literally but I've played for 30 years now. All I really need to do is trust. I've been hitting a 90yd wedge shot on my property every day and I'm dropping them on the flagstick like pills. Wedges and putting is 95% of golf. I need to not get too psycho with hitting the range. I'm more inclined to get benefit from some drills.
