Baylor lost by 8 points or less in 5 games this year. One of those against a team that made the playoffs. :noidea:

Sure Baylor was horrid but if all those games go their way, theyre bowl eligible.

Just playing devils advocate here for Baylor.

Baylor appreciates it.

Matt Rhule is staying at Baylor...he withdrew his name from consideration for the Colts job.

Report: Matt Rhule withdraws from Colts’ coaching search

Perhaps Rhule was just polishing his interview skills? However, his flirtation with the Colts could cost him some potential recruits. Rhule seems to have a pretty decent 2018 recruiting class so far.... Baylor is currently ranked #24 on 247 with a recruit average of 86.56.... 21 of 22 recruits have signed, and 6 of those 21 have already enrolled early. Not bad at all.
2018 Football Team Rankings

There are a couple more 4 stars that still might choose Baylor....in particular, WR Tommy Bush out of Texas seems to have his choices down between Baylor, Michigan State, and Georgia. I'm wondering if Rhule's interview with the Colts, combined with Spartans WR Hunter Rison announcing his transfer from East Lansing will entice Tommy Bush to choose Michigan State.
Baylor 2018 Football Prospects

Decent coaches interview for new jobs every season. I think Rhule is a good coach and with the scandal he basically gets a chance to rebuild Baylor from what they were a decade ago, only with a flashy stadium and donors who realize that bagmen are a part of recruiting in Texas. He will do ok but he is a good enough guy to not go full coach Kilmer like Briles did. I think he will be Paul Johnson 2.0 which won't excite the alums like his predecessor did but will be good enough to keep the fan base happy. It's a stepping stone job now so after he turns them into a 7-5/8-4 type program he will move on.

That's what I was thinking. I think Rhule just might be good at Baylor in time...but, exactly whay has he won yet?

People are pointing out what he did at Temple. GMAFB, Al Golden won at Temple. I think he's selling insurance now.....

No sir, TE coach for the Detroit Lions (at last check anyway).

Guy did a good job at Temple, Miami was a mess but it has been a mess for a few different coaches.

After the fiasco, I was shocked at how well Baylor was doing on the recruiting trail until my Baylor alum brother in law educated me. Then it made a little sense.

One of the first thing Rhule did was hire the head coach from Cedar Hill HS to help get a foot in the door with Texas HS coaches. He also hired one other native Texan..the QB coach I believe.

Honestly in this state you have to hire coaches with deep recruiting or high school roots. That is why Tim Beck is on staff at UT, and this is why a&m fans should be concerned. I don't know if Jimbo has hired a coach with deep Texas recruiting ties.

Jimbo brought his ace Tim Brewster who has recruiting ties to Texas plus he's retained Terry Price who played at A&M and retained Jim Turner from Sumlin's staff.

Bingo. Bringing in Brewster was a HUGE win for aggy, but they did overpay him.

So you guys need to make it rain, and right now you're taking a LOT of recruiting losses for that money.

This is why I don't see Jimbo lasting 3 years there. If he doesn't win IMMEDIATELY those paychecks are going to become an albatross.......aggy has to have the highest paid staff in the nation, and if they aren't getting results, boosters are going to start talking.

They can't afford to cut bait after 3 years, he'll get at least 5.

My aggie neighbor and the local aggie vet here are already talking. They ain't big money aggies but they do know several of them. Let's just say there seems to be a very wide range of opinions on what has transpired at B-CS.

That explains why our TEs are the worst in the NFL.

I mean these dudes are paying basically DOUBLE the going rate for every coach on their staff. And it looks like they're about to lose ANOTHER prospect in Ossai, who was supposed to be an aggy lock a week ago.

They lost White.....might lose O'Neal......and probably will lose out on Moore, who's twin is already signed to them.

That's a lot of 4 star losses for the highest paid staff in the nation.

I trust Jimbo to get it all turned around

We'll see. Right now all that money is not paying any dividends. Losing a lot of talent that was leaning aggy for weeks to months.

New coaches have a hard time establishing any type of relationship on such short notice. Just see Herman's class last season. The real test for Jimbo will be next year, can he pull in a haul like Herman is this year.

Not really......nearly all these kids Jimbo recruited at FSU. It's not like Herman, who was coming from a G5 with G5 assistants. ALL of the aggy coaches are well established.

This is most CERTAINLY a fail on their part.

Baylor should have gotten a permanent ban in all sports.

Yeah, the women's golf team should be punished for Briles' lack of control of his thugs. Makes sense.
