Moscot will pitch this year, as I understand it. Obviously he goes to Louisville.
He's probably Tim Adleman (v2) but he was a 4th rounder. He won't miss many bats but if he can pitch, he has to be in the stable.

Fangraphs released their top Reds prospect list:

Top 26 Prospects: Cincinnati Reds | FanGraphs Baseball
Senzel will be up this year, maybe in September. I doubt he's on the big club before then.
Winker and Ervin will see big-league pitching this year.
Mahle will likely start with Louisville but that's just a guess. I think the Reds want to see Disco and Finny pitch first.

The Siri analysis is interesting.

Fansgraphs has Jose Siri ranked pretty high by comparison to the MLB top 30.

With the Reds track record of developing outfielders I'd be more inclined to believe the MLB #22 ranking. But I'd much rather see the Fansgraphs projection become reality.

Siri is only 22, so there's time on him.

Jose Siri has been a little slow to develop, but that's fairly normal for International players signed as teenagers. He does have three option years, but he's also never played above A ball. He needs to keep improving because a step back is a step closer to becoming Yorman Rodriquez at this stage of his career.

2017 was a breakout year for the kid. Everything I've heard about him suggest he has the tools. Now we're going to find out if he has mental discipline to get the most out of his natural talent.

We need to be patient, I suppose. Not many Reds prospects on that list have played at AAA level. That means not many if any, are going to come rescue the team in spring training. I would guess on any kid below AA...because you just don't know if they can hack higher level competition yet, or if they are going to be derailed by injury and/or substance abuse before they get to MLB. Tyler Greene was one of the top 2-3 prosepcts in the ametuer draft...hell of an arm...he may be 3 years away though...or not, if he can throw strikes and mix a crooked pitch in occasionally... unless they want to turn him into a .230 hitting shortstop.

It appears the Reds are in position to do some dealing but I think the unpredictable pitching staff is going to forestall major trading. The outfield looks pretty deep even if it's mediocre on offense. Reds need some catching depth so that might be something we see happen.

I'd agree the catching depth is thin, but they have steadily acquired catchers.

They drafted Tyler Stephenson in the 2015 1st round, Chris Okey in the 2016 2nd round, and bit the bullet and kept rule 5 pick Stuart Turner on the 2017 roster all season. In addition to those guys they draft and/or sign minor league free agent catchers every year. The same people that assembled that talent are still in charge. Mix, pour, repeat.

The killer for the Reds is they put all their eggs into the Devon Mesoraco basket and have been picking eggshells out of their teeth ever since. The Reds have been fortunate that Tucker Barnhart's offensive development exceeded expectations or they'd really be in trouble.

I don't know that there is an abundance of catching depth spread across the league to be had. I think most teams are always looking to add catching depth and teams that have it want to keep it.

I think teams are willing to keep a lot of mediocre Ramon Cabrera Bryan Pena type catchers if they aren't especially expensive and are willing to be coaches/ambassadors in the Latin winter leagues after their seasons are over. A lot of that is about the premise that old catchers make good managers.

The Reds signed a 17-year-old NDFA kid last month and they got Clementina from the Dodgers for Cingrani.
I think Tyler Stephenson needs to actually play some ball pretty soon. Okey appears to be a bust. Stuart Turner is Barnhart without the at-bats and he's a worse glove.

But yeah, it's not easy to find upgrades behind the plate. I do know that very few catchers come from Asian countries. I don't know what that means.

But even if Mesoraco can come to the starting gate this year, he's gotta play pretty well to get any at-bats and we already know that's not in the plan right now.

This may be a bit optimistic, but I'm thinking and hoping that Mesoraco will have a fairly good year. behind Barnhart of course. I think this is his contract year and that may give him a little incentive. I think he has too, if he wants to stay in MLB

I don't know what Mesoraco's abiility really is. He had one good year and he's probably capable of that again if he gets 400 ABs. But he probably won't get that many.

Nearly 11 K /9 with 3.5 /9 BB for his career, but mostly as a SP. Not a bad K to BB ratio.

He's only pitched in relief the last two seasons and his numbers have been better. He's still only 26 and like a lot of International players he may have taken a year or two longer to develop. Definitely worth a look.

You could start a pretty descent new club with the FA still unsigned.

I'm not surprised by what we're seeing. The Player's Union had no problem negotiating Rule 4 Draft and International pool limits in exchange for player perks, but we're naive by not realizing the FA market could very well be next.
