100% agree with you on that!

I got in the habit when someone went down and waited for this kid to "break out" and he never did....
The talk when he came in was frame and speed, I never saw he blow anyone off the line or get some separation from the corner

Interesting words from Brock about the arm on Eason. But it makes you wonder exactly why Fromm ended up beating him out of the starters job. So it may not be an issue of arm strength and raw talent which is freakishly off the charts, but he's still got a lot of work to do to become a QB at the college level?

Hugh Millen says he's the best thrower he has ever seen at any level which is saying a lot, but yes arm strength/throwing doesn't equal best QB, or at least not necessarily. He's got some room to grow.

---As a freshman for the Bulldogs in 2016, Eason went 204 of 370 (55.1%) for 2,430 yards with 16 touchdowns and eight interceptions and he started the first game of the season this past fall for Georgia, but injured his left knee on a late hit out of bounds in the first quarter of the first game vs. Appalachian State. Freshman Jake Fromm, a Georgia native, took over and never relinquished the starting job even after Eason returned to full health.

Yes he was a freshman, but that 55%, while not aweful, still shows some issues could be there.

Maybe this is a non issue and you got to wonder if this was just one of those tough situations where all the talent and brains are there, but it was just a call by the coaches to keep Fromm rolling and didnt see any advantage of putting Eason back in.

Millen has been pushing for this since late September and hasn't stopped talking about it. His take was that the coaches at Georgia really wanted him to stick to higher percentage reads and he kept being too aggressive and going for home runs. I'd love to see what his percentage is on throws under 20y and I'd bet it's quite a bit higher.

Georgia plays a more run heavy conservative style. His arm would for sure be appreciated here, or really any Pac12 school for that matter.

I'd bet Millen is right and that he's not a bust, but turns out Fromm is a better fit for what they are doing and really was just hot at the right time. Eason wasn't terrible, but didn't excel in that system in his first year either. I'd love to see what he can do over at Montlake for sure.

Chewy said his biggest issue as a freshman was he wouldn't check down. If nothing was open deep he would still try to get it in there....

It reminds me of Farve, big arm and they try to create their "own windows" .....

Losing Vea and Pettis in particular, having a brand new OC that hasn't called plays before, and Jake with his limitations wouldn't leave me feeling playoff bound. They also have one of the most brutal schedules they have had in a long time.

Opening with Auburn, @utah two games later (we always struggle there), and the rest of our road games are UCLA, Oregon, Cal, and the AC.

I see really zero chance at running the table and see plenty of chances to lose a couple of games.

Don't get me wrong, I still like their chances at taking the North with another race against Stanford. They have a pretty tough first half of the schedule as well playing USC, @Oregon, @ND, and Utah all in the first half of the season. Then they have 4 out of their last 6 on the road.

See that works I take the "dreamers role" and you counter with the "logical thinking role" so we got this team covered either way! :thumb:

As I've mentioned, from the highlights I've watched he reminds me a lot of Matt Stafford.

Based on highlights (emphasis on highlights), I have to assume he likely has some work to do going through his progressions. Additionally I've heard he would frequently have the occasional overthrow. Issues that can definitely be worked out IMO. It's also never easy being a true freshman starter for an SEC school.

He is a guy that has the arm strength to be one and done at UW IMO. If he can live up to his physical potential, I'd be surprised if he wasn't a top 10 pick. But that is definitely contingent on how he progresses.

NFL scouts do really love big armed guys though. There is always the belief that they can be developed, even if they are relatively raw in their accuracy or other aspects of their game.

Pacific-12 Conference Career Leaders and Records for Rushing Yards | College Football at Sports-Reference.com

Obviously Gaskin won't surpass Charles White, if he has another 1,000+ yard season, he will be the fifth player in Pac-12 history to rush for 5,000 yards.

Additionally, there is a possibility that he could break the PAC-12 career rushing touchdown record.

Pacific-12 Conference Career Leaders and Records for Rushing Touchdowns | College Football at Sports-Reference.com

Gaskin is 15 rushing touchdowns shy of Royce Freeman's record 60. Obviously it won't be an easy task, but it is definitely a record within reach.

So there is a rumor going around that Jimmy Lake is the DC while coach K is the assistant DC.......

If this true it makes me wonder

It's not a rumor, it was reported officially by the team. Lake has been promoted to DC and will call the plays, coach K is co-DC and is only stepping back from calling the plays.

It was a defensive move on UW's part because Lake was offered jobs by teams as big as Bama.

Kwaitkowski is a football junkie and just wants to keep working with Petersen and the kids they have. I've seen a few interviews and extended pieces on him and it's said he's the most selfless coach around. He really has no desire for glory and really loves working with Petersen. His willingness to let Lakes take this part of his job over only reinforces that. They are doing whatever it takes to keep the band together and continue to ride this wave they are creating.

UW’s Jimmy Lake promoted to defensive coordinator, to take over as primary play-caller
Jimmy Lake, one of the most in-demand coaches in college football, will be promoted as Washington’s defensive coordinator and take over as the Huskies’ primary defensive play-caller in 2018, a source confirmed to The Seattle Times.

Lake and co-defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski are both expected to receive pay increases that will raise their annual salary to at least $1 million.

As a means of keeping Lake on staff, Kwiatkowski has agreed to cede the primary play-calling duties but will still be heavily involved in the weekly game-planning, a source said.

Over the past month or so, Lake has turned down offers to be the defensive coordinator at Alabama, Florida State, Texas A&M and Arizona State, KJR’s Dave “Softy” Mahler reported.

Lake, entering his fifth season on Chris Petersen’s UW staff, has aspirations to become a head coach some day, and being a play-caller is the final missing piece in his sterling coaching resume.

So this is keeping Lake here and still allowing him his final step toward reaching his ultimate goal of being a HC some day himself. Meanwhile both coaches got a hefty raise to over $1m/yr and the core of this defensive staff stays fully intact.

It makes sense for Jimmy. I know his end game is being a head coach. Reading what you said about Coach K makes me feel fuzzy and warm all over knowing that defensive scheme isn't going any where. I love the fact this "rebuild" process is based on a defense that is going to win games for them.

I know we bitch and moan when these "kids" don't get it done on the field, but that QB from WSU really put things in prospective yesterday, "there just kids still"...
