I didn't realize that all 3 Vikings QBs are FAs. That is going to hurt

Westbrook is a stud.

Marquis Lee is not.

JVille has a lot of talent on offense. Like their first round RB and their second round RB from the year before. Those decisions make it hard to improve an offense.

Lewis has been manning a spot for over a decade. That's a first rounder who's done his job.

Mercedes was a very good player, now, on the downside of his career...let's say Westbrook is a stud to be for right now.

Question poised to you...does Cousins make the Jags OFC an elite group?

Not upset, just very intrigued. Vikings fans have every reason to be optimistic - this year. When the sheriff returns next year it'll be a different story regardless who is under center for them.

3 QB's on the roster that a lot of teams will want

And the Vikings may not want any of them

Pretty funny

I'm not a Cousins guy personally.

That isn't necessarily a football thing either. He's a local product. I won't get into it much more than that. Other than Washington has never wanted to commit longterm. That's telling to me.

I was huge on Bortles in college. Never thought he'd go as high as he did. (Actually tabbed him as a backup plan for Staff coming out.). But I like that brings the ability to get first downs with his feet if need be. Like that he has a big frame and seems to take licks. Imo his shortcomings could be corrected with proper coaching. He makes mental mistakes. Also could use Allen Robinson being healthy. Last and only time he was he was a Pro Bowler for Bortles. (Hurns, a UDFA was close that year too.)

I think their offense could use a Jarvis Landry more than a different QB. But like I said, I've always been higher on Bortles than most.

It's crazy how much different of a team you have without the NFLs best player.

I don't see the Jags OFC roster being much better than what Cousins was working with in WAS.

That depends on the exact time period for the Redskins offense. If you are talking about the 2015 or even 2016 season then perhaps. However - if you are talking about the past season no way in hell. After the first few games Cousins was missing major portions of his offensive line for just about all of the season. He was without his star TE for most of the season, lost his starting RB for most of the year, his effective 3rd down RB for several games, their top WR pickup for a big portion of the season & was playing with a lot of young, no name WRs. They certainly didn't have anyone near the caliber of a Fournette & their defensive deficiencies made it very difficult on the offense at times (certainly not a problem w/ the Jags).

Yeah, Mich St IIRC...I like Cousins' game...I just don't think he's really a difference maker on that level.

Yeah...good points, but I understand the injuries this season.

Not just this yr.

Well - at a minimum I believe that he would have done substantially better than Bortles did against the Bills on Sun (lots of QBs would).

Fair enough. Hey - I hope that the Jags, Broncos & every other team doesn't want him. I want him back on the Skins - flaws & all. The alternative just frightens me.

Not saying Cousins is perfect or predicting how he will do moving fwd. However - your statement above IMO is more an indictment of the Redskins FO than of Cousins. Bruce Allen & Dan Snyder are hardly considered to lead one of the best FOs in the NFL.

True.

No question they aren't high on the measuring stick. But Find QB is mission one for a franchise. And they seem to want to keep looking.

I'm not comparing Cousins with Bortles...I'm responding to a post that felt like Cousins makes JAX an elite OFC. I don't think he does.

Cousins reminds me a lot of Matt Ryan...he's accurate so in this era of the NFL, he's going to get you 4000 yds every season...but the Falcons didn't start winning meaningful games until he got better talent around him. JAX OFC talent outside of Fournette...off the cuff, can you name anybody else?
Well we are comparing the Jags with Bortles to the Jags with Cousins.
The Jags have an elite defense. If they improved their offense as Cousins would do, that would make the Jags one of the best teams in the league. They do have offensive weapons. Robinson is very good, Hurns is a solid WR, Fournette, Westbrook are very good. They have a better line than the Skins. They are a team built for a pocket passer like Cousins.

I'm giving the Jags a great season on DEF...they earned that actually, but I'm not giving even that group elite status based on one season vs mostly non playoff teams.

The Falcons had an elite season on on OFC last year...no one is calling them elite a yr later.

Will Cousins make the Jags better than Bortles? Yes.

Will Cousins get them over the hump to a consistent playoff team? Probably.

Will Cousins make the Jags an eilte team...No.

this dont seem to be bad at all.
In the Salary cap era you are always being forced to deal with releasing someone you wouldn't have otherwise.
going into the next season only 450k. There are teams that are double digit millions over the cap & they get under it, without destroying their team.
Hate to agree with PE1 on this but a team who was the #1 seed should have to make moves to get under the cap (lot of high salaries) & to hear they are only 450k over isnt shit.

BTW most of the huge salaries are set up to redo down the road. This is just par for the course.
