Patrick would be my second choice to get help with this week off.
You know, I was just talking about him last night, since the first 4 games he has been pretty much non existent, I know he's young, rookie all that, but I think he's really more hurt than he's letting on, and he needs to be real and shut it down until truly healthy. Hope I'm wrong but I'm usually not so...:D

Potential top NHL pick Nolan Patrick discusses battle with sports hernia injury. BUFFALO (AP) — Nolan Patrick bears no grudges now that he's prepared to reveal how a sports hernia injury he sustained last summer was more serious than first anticipated.Jun 2, 2017

Hmmmmm....

Wonder if this still part of the problem. Not a real bounce back injury.

A little harsh on Leier, first year guy getting very limited playing time with shitty linemates= not much success.
Leier has been up and down now for a few years. He's 23 years old now almost 24 and had many opportunities to get off that fourth line. Even if he got off the 4th line im not sure hes anymore than a third line player at best.

He had surgery this off season so i would think it is a huge part of the problem. we saw gee and Ghost bounce back a year after the surgery so i will be giving him until next season before i start calling him out.

I'm not calling him out, I want him to heal 100%, I would hope trainers now days put players health as their number 1 priority, and if that means honestly shutting a guy down I'm all for that,

I don't think he is hurt, but still not 100% recovered after his surgery. Saw the same with Ghost and G last year after same/similar surgery. He does a lot of good thinks out there and seems pretty responsible on the defense end.

I would say that all of this future talk hinges dramatically on what we do with our extra cap space come this offseason. If we sign or trade for a big piece, then it instantly makes us a competitor.

Our Flyers will have over $16 million in cap space and we only need 4 more players, 2 of which will be a 13th forward and 7th defenseman. One of those is also Robert Hagg, so that leaves space for one very expensive forward. The move will probably happen at some point, but when? Hexy is set to look like an absolute genius when it all goes down though.

We would have the money to pay John Tavares virtually whatever he wants and he would be worth it too. Dropping close to $11 million of Filppula, Read and Umberger for $11 million of Tavares as he just turns 28 would be an enormous score for us.

Besides money,Hextall has a nice selection of draft picks to dangle, and a shitload of young guys in OHL,Quebec league,NCAA,who are near top in most categories.

Flyers Midterm Report Cards: Fourth-Line Wingers

Lehtera got two votes for A+ its was his mom and Mav :pound::pound::pound::pound:

Not me, but I did give Morgan Frost an A+ and our extra 2018 1st round pick too since St. Louis is sinking in the standings.

What grade does Brayden Schenn get since his linemate Schwartz went down? 1 goal and a -7 in 15 games. Those 6 assists he has are big though and that 45% faceoff win percentage. Probably helped his team win all 5 of those last 15. Considering how much he plays and the tremendous opportunities he still has, I'll give him an F.

How do both Hagg and Sanheim get the same grade? Hagg has been at least a B if not B+.

I have them at B- and C-. Hagg can hit and block, but he's seemingly often shown an inability to really move the puck or defend 1v1 in open ice. I mean his gap has been terrible occasionally, which I've seen lead to virtual breakaways when we had two defenders back.

Sanheim hasn't gotten near as much ice, but shows a lot more upside obviously with his speed and offensive abilities. He absolutely has a lot of work to do defensively though and with his decision making.

Yes, at some point you have to think we will consolidate several of our picks/prospects. That could mean trading up in the draft and/or trading for an established top six player that is still well south of 30. Obviously we could use a dynamic goal scorer at wing or center.

Having Simmonds back at 100% and running on all cylinders would help this too, because I don't think he is there. While he's technically still on pace for 27 goals, this is a guy who was good for 30+ always and several of his recent goals have been tap-ins. He's just not as fast and physical as he once was. It's not age either for God's sake...Lol Just look at his hit totals. He is on pace for about 30-40 hits fewer. Shooting and penalty minutes are down too. Something isn't right.
