Eventually I will be getting rid of my 2008 Nissan Altima SE. Currently has almost 170K on it. I live in the Boston area, so I know can't really get anything "big" but I was thinking about getting some sort of SUV.

Now my ideal vehicle would be a F-150 but that isn't going to happen so the next logical choice is an SUV.

So what say you?

The Explorer is by far the best solid value of all those. The thing drives like a MB and has great utility. Still, I like the Maserati Levente with the big Ferrari V8.

This.

Subaru is an underrated brand. Scores well in consumer reports.
It’s not flashy and it won’t score points with your buddies but it is so damn practical.

Have you thought about a Suburu? The Outback or Forester is an outstanding vehicle. They are all AWD, hold their resale value, and are among the best for safety ratingsmacross the board. I don't own one myself, but have many friends who love them and I have test driven the Outback and loved it. I will probably buy one eventually. I like not having a car payment. My current vehicle is the Hyundai Sante Fe Sport and that is a very nice ride as well. Hope this helps?

My wife has a Toyota 4 Runner. It's great. Not really expensive. But she got the loaded one with leather and sunroof. I'm a big Toyota fan in general. Quality. One of my friends has a Subaru. It is also a quality vehicle. If you don't care about how it looks I would probably go Subaru. If you do then go Toyota. Can't wrong either way.
