Is there any truth to the rumor I just made up that the Lakers have conspired to fake an injury here in order to keep Lonzo (and his dad) out of the limelight on this biggest day of the NBA regular season?

I don't know... you have to consider the source when it comes to rumors... and I'm pretty awesome... so...No.
If that were the case, do you think Lavar would stay quiet about that? It would only thrust him into the spotlight more as he exposed the conspiracy and make the Lakers look terrible. Lonzo is legitimately hurt.

so...
BSpn was saying that if the 2017 draft was done today, Kyle Kuzma would be top 5...
i'll say it again, LOTTA GM's missed on that kid. props to Magic and Rob...
Jordan Bell would probably be top 10 maybe top 15.
Not sure I agree that Kuzma would go top 5 though. He's playing as a top 5 pick certainly but he's still 22.

Yes and no. Kuzma is definitely playing like he belongs in the top 5. But, as you point out, he's 22. That leaves the question of how much more can he improve compared to other rookies who are 2-3 years younger.
We really won't know for at least 2-3 more years. If he continues to improve, then he can solidify as a "should have been top 5" pick and everyone just missed on him. If he stays the same or drops off a bit, then we know he shouldn't have been a top 5 pick.
Kuzma may turn out to be a top 5 pick. I just don't think many GMs would draft him right now as a top 5 pick.

Oh, I agree. If he was 2-3 years younger and playing like this, then definitely. But at 22?...just can't be sure what his upside really is. There may be a couple that would take him right now, but not many.
What fucking sorcery is this?
Reasonable, rational debate will not be tolerated.
Me thinks Donovan Mitchell is the top Rookie right now.
Plenty of time to change that.
But, Bruh....
That kid is filthy!

Good news on Fultz coming back...In other rookie news, looks like Markelle Fultz is close to returning. Could be as early as next week. Video clips of his free throw shooting, show a vastly more confident stroke albeit still not the most picturesque form..
The Sixers could really use a player who can spell both Reddick and Simmons. McConnell is a fun player to watch but he's too limited to be a major contributor to a playoff team.

Is it just me, or is he not bending at the knees enough (or at all?) when he takes a free throw... ?
