They don't have a pair of players that are important to them. But they're flat soft and not very good as currently constructed. If they get Preston and Silvio De Sousa on the court maybe things are different, but I am not holding my breath. It has been a running joke, but this really does look like the worst team of the Self era.

I've thought they've been overrated, pollwise, since the beginning of the year.

With Graham and Mykhailuk as their best players, I think they were more of a Top 12ish team. Those guys are really more pieces than stars.

But they are Kansas, you had to assume they'd just make it work. And they still might come back and win the Big 12. They might not, but they have as good a chance as anybody.

I'm also pretty confident in saying Kansas fans don't care that much about winning the Big12.

And this could be the year they lose the Big12, get hot and make the Final 4.

Texas Tech beat the shit out of Wofford back in November, 79-56. You'll remember that Wofford beat the Tar Heels in the Dean Dome so it certainly doesn't surprise me that Texas Tech could beat Kansas in Allen Field House.

They no longer have Danny Manning coaching up their bigs. That's problem #1, obviously.

In all seriousness, TTU is a good team and KU is still #7 in kenpom. I mean, KU is still 11-3 and have a pair of Top 50 wins. Their Big 12 title streak was going to be broken eventually, even though it is a tad early to predict that streak ending. They've also had two 5* freshmen that have been sidelined.

been telling y'all for a couple years now to watch out for Tx Tech

wait til they get Zach Smith back fully healthy from that ankle injury vs baylor, adding a more athletic big man to that mix.

deep team, with some promising freshman to pair with 5-6 upperclassmen, mostly seniors. down year for KU, up year for TT. Tech will smother them in Lubbock at the end of FEB too, trying to go to that one.

...and pretty damned even IYAM. A team better not wallow in self pity after a loss or two...it could turn into 6-8 losses real quick.

I'll be shocked if the conference champ doesn't have quite a few losses.

Think I saw a stat on the tube that said at least 10 players average over 13 minutes a game....or something along those lines.

So... what's up.

They are extremely well coached, I'll say that. This is probably the least talented Kansas team under Self(not that this team is without talent). But there is something to be said for just knowing how to win games, it's ingrained in the culture. They've won their 6 Big 12 games by an average of just 4 ppg. They are beatable, until the other team didn't beat them, it really is amazing. Also, what makes it more amazing is that this is probably the best any league has been in the last 15 years, so for them to be sitting at 6-1, says even more.

You didn't think Texas Tech was going to win the Big12 did you?
I was more thinking not-KU than anything else in particular; OU if you put a gun to my head. Just a little bewildered these close games aren't evening out at all. That's just not supposed to happen. Not sure if they're just insanely lucky, well coached, or both.

If Kansas keeps winning those close games they could win it again for the gazillionth time.

I can't decide if the league is good or not. Before conference play started it looked damn good. Now, many teams seem to have frequent brain farts.

Last night I watched an injury plagued TCU that was 2-5 and 3rd to last in the conference beat a 2nd place 5-2 West Virginia team. WTF.
