You were definitely one of the few then. Hausch missed 6 XPs last year plus the gimme chip shot in OT vs Arizona. If Walsh cost us the playoffs this year, then Hausch cost us HFA last year.

But yeah, we have something like 7 picks in rounds 5 & 7 right now. Using 1 of them on a kicker doesn't seem like a horrible idea. Then maybe you also bring in a vet for some competition. Matt Bryant is a UFA. Caleb Sturgis too, and certainly several others.

No doubt Haush had a down year that we were not use to seeing, just felt he would have had a bounce back year which is why I wanted him resigned. If he sucked worse, then you guys could have roasted the hell out of me.

Well, I called him The Blair Walsh Project (after the Blair Witch Project) but that isn't my original. I stole it from somewhere. But I'm kind of fond of Blair Finkle (Ray's twin brother).

Ruxin called him "Blair Kick Project" in The League, I believe.

Walsh was not good for us. But that is an easily replaced player.

Well it must not be that easy if you can't specifically give names of guys you would've signed... So "ANYONE" would be you and I included? You're certain you could've kicked better? I know I couldn't have...

Here are some kickers that were available on the market when we signed Walsh that weren't over 2.5 million...

Nick Folk
Nick Novak
Dan Carpenter
Jason Meyers
Connor Barth

So you would've been fine with them? They weren't much better...

I just have a hard time listening to people complain, criticize, and place blame without having any solutions of their own... You still can't give me one even though it was that easy...

The bigger issue with whining about the kicker is that is pure hindsight. Walsh was league average. But he had a couple of big misses. But those big misses were mostly on longish field goal attempts.

As a general rule, if you rely on your kicker to make every field goal to win games, you are going to be disappointed.

Yeah, agree... I'm not here defending Walsh as a kicker, there just weren't many other options at the time we signed him... It's obvious the team was going to bring in a much more inexpensive kicker and there just weren't many of them on the market at the time that had a better resume than Walsh... Now, we look back, it was a horrible decision by the FO... It obviously didn't pan out like they imagined it would... But at the time, I see why they did sign him over some of the other kickers available at that time...

If Seahawks fans here let their voices be heard and placed blame; criticized the decision like no tomorrow; at the time we signed him, then it would be different but that definitely was not the case...

When it is all said and done, this wasn't winning a Super Bowl with a different kicker.

So, sure, we need to find a new kicker. But that is probably the easiest thing the front office has to do this offseason.

While you didn't say anything positive about the Walsh signing at the time, you didn't post anything negative about it either. The only thing I have found on the subject is that you wanted to draft a kicker rather than pay Haushka $3-$4 million. Or:

Time to draft a kicker in the 7th. I dont think we need to spend 3 or 4m on a kicker who hasnt been all that good

That is literally the only post you posted on this board about our kicker from the day Walsh was signed until Walsh missed the 3 field goals against Washington. You didn't post anything negative against Walsh until days after the Washington game (11/22) and it's just recently (since 12/10) that you are getting upset that Walsh was our kicker for the whole year and only until after the season that you've made comments that you never liked the signing and that it was so horrible.

In reality, you appear mostly indifferent to Walsh until late November - so until after his field goal percentage dropped below 90% on the season.

I dont post much here during the offseason and walsh was signed in february. My sentiment about walsh was negative from the get go as it should have been for everyone considering that he missed an 18 yard kick against us in the playoffs. hindsight has nothing to do with it.

So your assessment was based on a single kick from two seasons ago in brutally cold weather conditions?

No. He hasn't missed any sub 30 yard field goals this season. So, if you're concern was that he blew a game on a 27 yard field goal - he didn't do that this year.

What? Didn't you just say you hated the signing because one missed 27 yard (not 18) field goal? Did he miss a 27 yard field goal for Seattle I didn't see? Or, in your alternative history of events, did you forget to remember that you predicted to yourself that a kicker who hit 70% of his career 50 yard field goals would become erratic for anything over 30 yards - and that's the reason you hated the signing?

Did he miss key kicks? Yes. Did he miss easy kicks? Yes. Did we lose games because of him? Yes

Why sign a guy that has missed key and game winning kicks when you had first hand experience? Its absolute arrogance or stupidity.

From now on we should only sign players that have never made any mistakes in a game. That will definitely improve the team.

You've become a parody.
