Takes some guts to write a public article. Kudos.

Good job. I agree with Harold that it takes guts to write public articles.

We're all really hoping the Hawks follow the path of the Steelers and not the Chargers. Pittsburgh has built multiple winners and they have built primarily through the draft. I think once Seattle started going after free agents and trading draft picks away that's where they hurt themselves (Harvin and Graham). Oddly enough, the one area Seattle had ignored until recently was the OL which is probably the only area where drafting quality players is unfeasible considering the top lineman get drafted in the first 10 picks. Probably best to go after experienced OL in free agency and look at building other positions through the draft.

Hard to call a 10 win season mediocre.

Agreed, however, the expectations of the Seahawks doesn't include settling for a 10 win season. They should be division champs and should be up for a first round bye every year with the talent they have.

I agree. But the Rams are a really good team and the Seahawks have suffered a LOT of injuries this year.

I know a lot of fans want to say "well injuries are an excuse" but the fact of the matter is that injuries affect all teams. Get the wrong injuries and your team will suffer for it. Put a dozen or so players on IR including 7 or 8 expected starters and 3 Pro Bowlers and you ARE going to suffer for it. No way around that.

The Rams are a really good team outta nowhere. I mean no one expected them to be this good. And if they say they did, they are a bunch of liars lol.

Yeah. That is a pretty rare sort of turnaround.

The Destiny of the Seahawks, will they become the Chargers or Steelers - Sports Insider Online
Congrats on getting published. Did you have someone edit it or is that all your work? If so, good job on sentence structure and syntax.

I guess people in here know by now that I loath Pete Carroll. I blame the team's lack of discipline, lack of emotional control and lack of focus on him. I guess he will be a HOF coach, but I'll never see him that way. We should have had a dynasty here but instead we have players who, while great, get sidetracked way too easily and shoot themselves in the foot way too often.

Under Carroll's continued guidance, I don't think the team will follow the path of the Steelers nor the Chargers, but be somewhere in between with a slight lean toward San Diego. I think we are going to hang onto some of our high-priced defenders a couple years too long and the money allocated to them will continue to compromise our ability to get quality players for the offensive line.

You loathe Pete Carroll because you expected the team to be better than it has been the past 5 years?

All I can say to this is wow.

Yeah, I expected it to be better. We've had the most talented starters in the league for the past five years, easily better than New England's. But the results don't show up in the win column as often as they should. Belichick over-achieves. Carroll under-achieves.

Same number of Super Bowl appearances for them in that time span.

Good job... But I don't think Seattle is anything like the Chargers or will be, the Chargers haven't advanced in the playoffs or really done anything for a long time... The last couple seasons we've had playoff wins, lost 2 times in the divisional round to teams that have ended up going to the Super-Bowl... I think if we stayed healthy this year we win this division and possibly even get a 1st round bye ... We're not as good as we were, that's obvious, we might not ever be as good as we were in 2013, that team was a beast, but can we be good enough to get another title ? I think so, if we can get consistency in our running game, get the defense playing better....

You rag on Carroll for an undisciplined culture, yet this thread is about whether we can follow the lead of the Steelers.

May I introduce you to Mike Tomlin? A head coach who literally stepped into the path of a player returning the ball.

Discipline isn't the be all end all of good football. He likes his players to play loose and emotional. It brought this city a Lombardi trophy.

Good article. The Hawks really nailed drafts in the past and that's exactly what they have built on. The last few, not so much and the team as suffered a bit. It's easy to sit back and say that they need to draft better but college players are so difficult to analyze.

One thing that is keeping us afloat and towards the top, is that we haven't went for the home run. We haven't spent capital to move up. We have spent it on trades and I'm not sure if that is a formula for long term success.

The roller coaster ride of an NFL Gm has to be unlike any other job out there.
