Could just be that he knows that he's going to be asked, multiple times, about his plans for next season and doesn't want to have to deal with all of that.

Plus, let's face it, whatever one might think of Lebron, the dudes damn good at marketing and playing the media. He knows that skipping that presser will generate more buzz than him showing up and saying "Next question" and/or "I haven't decided what I'm going to do. I'll wait until the off season when I can discuss it with my family and agents" over and over.

But considering what virtually everyone thought of the trade when it happened, the fact that they are in the position they are, is a win for the Pacers. Especially if they can maintain it.
