Want to buy my kids tablets for Christmas and know zero about them. I've always been an IPad user but refuse to spend that kind of money. Kids just typically play games, youtube, watch movies. Any advice?

Bought my granddaughter a Amazon Fire Tablet. She loves it. Games, videos, etc. and inexpensive.

I bought a 10" tablet a few years ago, once the price dropped to about $300. Haven't had any problems/issues worth mentioning.

For a child, you'll need to get some sort of protective case. I never got one for mine because the best price I could find was about $40.

There are tablets specifically made for kids. Try looking into the selection at Best Buy or Amazon for ideas of what to research.

My kids aren't really all that young. Early teen, and 10. Some those kid tablets have a ridiculous case

Samsung, Asus, and Amazon have lower end tablets ranging from ~$130-$230.

I was just coming to the tech forum looking for the same thing. Considering getting the kindle fire 7 (kids edition, comes with case and a year free of Amazon's kids app).

I've never owned an Amazon device and understand that it doesn't have Google play. At first that turned me off, I'm not really familiar with Amazon's app store, but it's for my kid, so shouldn't matter...

I've pretty much decided I'll go with that while it's on sale, just wanted to see if there were any thoughts on it. I already see a +1 at the top of the thread, so that's cool.

My niece and my cousin's kids love their cheapo Amazon tablets. Both sets of parents are pretty strict about usage time though.

They're pretty impressive for the price. We gave it to her early so she could have it on a trip we took. The kids settings are great.

I love my Samsung Tab S.

I've had it for a few years and it's still holding up to all the games, Kodi and books that I like to read.

Don't be afraid to spend a few dollars more for something that can stand the test of time.

I have a Kindle Fire 10" that I got for around $130 a couple years ago. Works great and I'd buy it again. I think you can get refurbished for around $100.
