Yeah I remember that time. Everyone in the stands complained and that was either the first or second game of the year. Haven't played them again. Meanwhile Mercer n Chattanooga and UAB and a cpl of other trucking schools are on regular rotation at Alabama especially in November. Who is it next year? Oh yes that powerhouse Citadel.

Also Bama has Mercer on their football schedule in 2021.

On a sidenote, Auburn has a future "home and home" scheduled with Penn State in 2021/2022 and Cal in 2023/2024. Kudos to Auburn for scheduling a "home and home".

The thing is no one is saying Alabama isn't a great team. They are. They have the #1 recruiting class for the past six or so seasons and their coach is great.They dont need any of these advantages the SEC gives them. I realize with the posts here from some Bama fans that they really wouldn't care if their team played Mercer then Citadel then Towsend to end the season as long as they get wins and it doesnt kill them in the rankings. As a USC fan who actually goes to games home and away I would rather see USC play @ Virgina or @Syracuse or @Ohio State for OOC games even if that might fuck up their season if they lose. We bitched when USC played San Jose State and then Idaho to start one season. No one was happy about that. Imagine playing them in November. No one would go.

Six PAC teams played a team worse than Mercer (I'm taking your word on that). Every SEC team played a team like Mercer on purpose. Not a team that ended up to have a bad season. A team that's never been ranked and never will be and will always be a Mercer. Does Alabama really need to play Citadel next November? Does that game really need to happen? Just have both teams stay home , give them their laydown money, take the win (and stay in the same exact spot in the rankings ) and save everyone the trouble.
