Outside of the micro transactions have we heard anything else? Positives? Negatives?

So I bought it... mostly because $80 means very little.

Summary: Great game, brilliant MP action,

Pros:
* Quick to pick up. Games end in 10-20 minutes, unlike the hour+ MOBA fest.
* Credits are all you need. 24 hours of play (yep I purchased this shortly after making the thread) I've bought ALL heroes.
* SMOOTH. With 39 other Internet connections going on, I'd expect chaos, but this holds up... all with explosions and fully detailed battle objectives.
* Overall thrilling MP action. I haven't puckered my butt this much when there's nothing on the line and it's not competitive at all since a comp CS: GO match. That says something.
* Hero classes are a blast. Vader is my favorite, followed by Yoda.
* Crates are fun and interactive with the crafting system. While many have commented about how terrible the system is, I quite enjoy it.
* Sound is top notch which is no surprise. LucasArts/EA has always pushed high end sound/audio in games and this is no different. It definitely gives you a sense of urgency/panic in certain moments.

Cons:
* Running simulator 2017... if you're playing assault mode (what you probably bought the game for) expect to run a LOT, if you die.
* Specialist/sniper, get this to level 50 ASAP and enjoy the op'd gun... if you enjoy sniping be prepared to suffer through the LOL fest the devs give you early on.
* "WTF DID I DIE FROM!?" Yep, it's one of those games. Between the terrible netcode and mechanics, you'll often just be squatting behind a box to only die to 1) some dude that snuck behind you even though you have no clue how, 2) a detonator, 3) somehow, 4) a detonator, 5) a thing I don't know, 6) a thermal detonator.

Overall it's an A+ buy from me. I haven't played a game in 3+ years that consumed over 24+ hours of play in the first week.. Last I can recall was a WOW expansion.

Good review.

Now if only I can connect to the EA servers to play online! I'm pretty pissed off about it right now, and their troubleshooting help is shit.

Nope. Fuck EA. More and more people need to outright rebel so we can reign in this loot box/microtransaction bullshit. We aren't even getting complete games anymore because DERPs keep ponying up cash

I don't have a problem with loot boxes if it doesn't affect your in game performance. Overwatch merely provides skins and other little things you can live without. That stuff is fine with me, but having to pay a hundred dollars or more on top of the price of the game just to compete with others? That's where I draw the line. F2P games have to do that in order to generate revenue, and if I'm playing for free then I don't mind a less than level playing field, a triple A title should never have that.

Running is actually a good thing. It creates choke points on the map and provides much more strategy, kind of like an actual battle/war. I certainly would prefer that to the twitch-reflex style of COD where everyone gets shot in the back by someone who just spawned in.

I'm actually curious as to how this is still holding up.

Every review I've seen makes it look like a fun multiplayer game to a point and then maybe at some point it dries up as an experience. 24+ hours is pretty good, though. For a full priced game I'm good with anything over 15 hours, to be honest.

Everything is super laggy now. EA has acknowledged the server issues but it's been pretty bad since I got back from Thanks (Sat night).

Other then that, still worth a buy. I was visiting family and couldn't wait to come back and get my SW fix on.

Sales have sucked due to the controversy, and now they can't remonetize it. You aren't gonna get their best work at this point. Your server hamsters are gonna get overworked. You'll get some bandaids, but EA looks to be cutting their losses, moving on to something they can actually make money on.

Now this is how you tell a megacorporation you're sick of their bullshit!

They tend to understand a three BILLION dollar drop in stock worth.

There is also a rapidly accelerating online petition to LucasFilm to revoke EA's exclusive Star Wars license. It's already got over 100,000 signatures and is getting noticed. Sign the Petition

That said, EA is still barely doing anything to improve relations with its consumers and is not doing much of anything to improve Battlefront II. Forbes article published yesterday: 'Star Wars Battlefront 2' Changes Show EA Hasn't Learned Any Lessons With Microtransactions

And multiple nations are looking at the EA microtransaction model as a form of gambling.

If they legislate to regulate or even ban it, it's going to seriously disrupt the way they do business, as you can see it laid out in the Wilson Lootbox video in the Respawn thread.

I am pleasantly surprised at the result of this kerfuffle.

Hopefully these other nations can save the video game industry. The US government is too busy being greedy to care about the everyday joe.

I returned the game due to being unable to connect online. The game was so promising too...
