December 6th recap and December 8th preview

This post was ORIGINALLY going to be just about Friday's slate. But then, we not only saw Kansas losing to Washington...

Loyola-Chicago vs. Florida - Game Summary - December 6, 2017 - ESPN ...but also Florida losing to Loyola-Chicago from the Missouri Valley! NOW I have to check and see if any other upsets occurred:

Yesterday:
Temple over Wisconsin 59-55
Wofford over Georgia Tech 63-60 (Isn't this the 2nd "Whoopsie" loss for GT this season?)
Providence over Brown 77-72 in OT
East Tennessee State over Northern Kentucky 84-71 (Effectually ending ANY chance that Northern Kentucky had at a NCAA at-large.)
Towson over Morgan State 82-78 in OT
Stephan F. Austin over Louisiana Tech 85-83
Middle Tennessee over Vanderbilt 66-63
Alabama over Rhode Island 68-64
Idaho over Washington State 91-64 (Looks like the bloom is off the rose of Washington State.)

Phew... Now let me check Friday's slate to see what could happen there (All times are Eastern):

Hall of Fame Showcase [From Los Angeles, CA]:
St. John's vs. Arizona State (8:00)
Game of the Day: Oklahoma vs. USC (Around 10:30)
Nevada vs. TCU (1:00 A.M)
...and that's about it. But hey! Nevada vs. TCU could be good.

December 9th: Games outside of the Top 25

With college football no longer dominating Saturdays, we're seeing basketball starting to take over. And here are the games OUTSIDE of the rankings that are worth watching today. Will we see another Southern Nazarene-level upset? Let's see: (All times are Eastern)

Beehive Classic [From Salt Lake City, UT]:
Utah State vs. Utah (7:30)
BYU vs. Weber State (Around 10:00)

Other big games:
UCLA @ Michigan (12:00)
(When 2 CBB blue-bloods face off, it always draws a crowd.)
Marquette @ Wisconsin (12:00)
Tennessee Tech @ Central Michigan (1:00)
Indiana @ Louisville (2:00) (Like I said earlier, we have 2 CBB blue-bloods here to draw a crowd.)
UL-Monroe @ Jacksonville State (2:00) (A game postponed from last night due to bad weather.)
Nebraska @ Creighton (2:30) (It'll be great for the Huskies if they can beat Minnesota and Creighton in consecutive games.)
UAB @ Auburn (4:30)
California @ San Diego State (5:00)
Ole Miss @ Middle Tennessee (6:00)
Houston @ Saint Louis (8:00)
Alabama @ Arizona (10:00)

Ball State over Valparaiso 71-70 (Whoopsie)
Creighton over Nebraska 75-65
UMass over Providence 72-63 (Whoopsie)
California over San Diego State 63-62
Tulsa upsets Kansas State 61-54

12/10 and 12/11 recap

Arizona State vs. Kansas - Game Summary - December 10, 2017 - ESPN

So because of THAT, lowly Arizona State is #5?! Wait... Didn't they also beat teams like St. John's and Xavier? ...Well, we'll see if ASU can keep this up; it's still early.
Oh, and here's what else happened over the last 2 days:

Sunday:
Villanova over La Salle 77-68
Gonzaga over Washington 97-70
Oral Roberts upsets Missouri State 73-66 (Wait... Didn't Oral Roberts lost to a Division II school the last time I saw them?)

Yesterday:

December 12th and 13th

So the CFB bowl season begins in 4 days, the New England Patriots just lost to the lowly Dolphins, and there's a blanket of snow on the ground in Central New York right now.
:music: Looks like it'll be a good day today! Let's see if college basketball has any gems for us: (All times are Eastern)

Today:
Georgia Southern @ George Mason (7:00)
Game of the Day: Mississippi State @ Cincinnati (7:00)
UL-Lafayette @ Louisiana Tech (7:30)
San Diego @ Colorado (8:00)
Albany @ Memphis (9:00)
Big game: Michigan @ Texas (9:00)
Jacksonville State @ Oregon State (10:00)

Tomorrow:
Game of the Day: New #1 Villanova @ Temple (7:00)

Grand Canyon @ Boise State (9:00)
Houston @ LSU (9:00)
Portland State @ Oregon (10:00)

So there ARE a few games... but tomorrow's slate looks a bit lax. Maybe college basketball is saving itself for Saturday, December 16th...

12/12 and 12/13 recap

Did you hear about the Disney/FOX merger? I got 20 bucks saying that in 4 years time, we'll have a federal trial calling Disney "a corporate Monopoly".
Oops, sorry. Wrong forum; that's for the "politics" forums. Let me just see what happened recently in the CBB world:

Tuesday:
Cincinnati over Mississippi State 65-50
(Either this game was a good bounce-back win for Cincy, or just the fact that Mississippi State isn't as good as I thought.)
UL-Lafayette over Louisiana Tech 75-71
San Diego over Colorado 69-59 (Whoopsie)
UL-Monroe over Grambling 59-57
Memphis over Albany 67-58
Michigan over Texas 59-52
Oregon State over Jacksonville State 60-59

Yesterday:
Villanova over Temple 87-67
Wisconsin over Western Kentucky 81-80
Boise State over Grand Canyon 85-80 in 2-OT's
Oregon over Portland State 95-84

December 16th slate- Part 1

I noticed the new CBB thread by @Altra on my way to work. You know, the one about today's games? Well, Mr. Altra, here's some helpful advice: You should pick a day that's LOADED with good games to do a thread on.
You know, just like tomorrow! Let me give you a small example of what I mean: (All times are Eastern)

Butler vs. Purdue (12:00)
Indiana vs. Notre Dame (Around 2:30)

MetroPCS Orange Bowl Classic [From Sunrise, FL]:
Oklahoma State vs. Florida State (2:00)
Florida vs. Clemson (Around 4:30)
Other big games:
Garden State Hardwood Classic:
Seton Hall @ Rutgers (12:00)
Michigan State @ Oakland {From Detroit} (2:00)
Virginia Tech @ Kentucky (2:00)
Cincinnati @ UCLA (3:30)
Game of the Day: Oklahoma @ Wichita State (4:00)

And that's just for starters...

Wow - I had no idea you did this. I was just creating 1 giant Game Day Threads for those games (which I've been doing for weeks now), instead of clogging up just one thread. T

This week has certainly been slim on quality games. I can only imagine it's likely to do with finals and students wrapping up the end of semester.

Huh... Maybe THAT was why I was so bored during the week. Oh, and about your daily threads? I'll bet they'll get a LOT more replies in the crazy days of January and February.
Now on to today's action! Or rather, what's going on outside of the national rankings: (All times are Eastern)

Hy-Vee Big Five Classic [From Des Moines, IO]:
Drake vs. Iowa (2:00)
Northern Iowa vs. Iowa State (Around 4:30)

Gotham Classic: Louisville vs. Memphis [From Madison Square Garden] (12:00)
Syracuse @ Georgetown (12:30)
(FINALLY! Patrick Ewing and Georgetown will get to play a REAL team!)
Stephan F. Austin @ LSU (1:00)
Northwestern @ DePaul (2:00)
Louisiana Tech @ Texas (2:00)
Charleston @ Rhode Island (4:00)
Middle Tennessee @ Auburn (6:00)
Oregon @ Fresno State (6:00)
New Mexico State @ Illinois [From Chicago] (8:00)
Utah @ BYU (11:00)

By the way, do any of you find it weird that "UFC on FOX" and "Boxing on HBO" are having a ratings war later tonight?
