ACC title game: Miami beats Clemson
SEC title game: Georgia beats Auburn
B1G title game: Ohio State beats Wisconsin
Big 12 title game: TCU beats Oklahoma
SEC title game: Stanford beats USC

Who are the playoff 4?

DISCUSS!!!!
That would be a great mess.

Georgia
Miami
Alabama
Ohio State

That 4th spot would be the contested one. Oklahoma, TCU would have good arguments for the spot too. UCF would move up in the top 6 or 7. If they beat a top 15 ranked Memphis.

I don't think the Pac 12 title game has any bearing on the playoff anymore. Also, if TCU wins the Big 12 title, there won't be any Big 12 or Pac 12 teams in the playoff. Probably two SEC or two B1G teams. More than likely 2 SEC teams.

I disagree about the PAC12 title game not having any bearing on the playoff.

The head of the committee is just one week removed from saying the committee
is very impressed with what USC has done lately.

I wouldn't be surprised to see USC come in at #8 on Tuesday night. 1 spot ahead
of Penn State. Sitting there just waiting for some scenario happen like is described
in the OP, except with a USC win.

I know...USC lost to ND by 30. ND is 9-3. Ohio St lost to Iowa by 31. Iowa is
7-5. USC has far the better resume than Ohio St. Ohio St, after meeting Wisconsin
will have played 7 bowl teams this year. Wisconsin will have played 5 bowl teams this
year. USC will have played 10 Bowl teams. Nah, USC is gonna win the overall resume
look.

Plus...In these scenarios who in the hell are they gonna send to the Rose Bowl...TCU or
Miami. Are you kidding me?

In the second scenario with USC winning the Pac12...They are not gonna seed UGA #1
and Bama #4. Won't happen. They'd seed Miami #4 and UGA #1. That would put
Bama vs USC in the Rose Bowl. Now, they have a rule that 1 and 2 will play closest
to their home. Well, there are only two bowls they can go to...Rose or Sugar. They
may very well seed USC #2 and Bama #3. Based on s.o.s. and the fact that Bama
didn't make it to their title game. The committee would then have the needed excuse
to have a West Coast team in the Rose Bowl.

I could see the committee considering Ohio State and Wisconsin over Miami AND Clemson. Both Clemson and Miami have embarrassing losses and one of them will have 2 losses. Ohio State, if they win, would have only 1 bad loss and a loss to a decent team and Wisconsin would have 1 loss to a conference champion. An argument could be made for 2 B1G teams.

So tOSU's loss to an awful Iowa team wasn't embarrassing?

UGA, Miami, Bama for sure. Personally I'd go OU at 4 over OSU but the committee would go Buckeyes

You do make some good points, but there is not a scenario in which USC gets in. With a Miami win, I think an 11-2 Clemson is still ahead of a 11-2 USC. USC may get as high as 5 or 6, but it really doesn't look like they can get in. Their SOS is good though, but I don't think it is enough.

I honestly don't think USC makes the playoff no matter how much chaos there is this weekend. Too much ground to make up for USC. Because with shit hitting the fan, #5 Bama would benefit the most by not playing, #6 Georgia would be the SEC champs, #7 Miami would be the ACC champs, #8 Ohio State would be the B1G champs, #9 Penn State would also benefit from not playing and #10 TCU would be the Big 12 champs. USC at that point would be behind 4 conference champions and 2 non conference champs and for arguments sake, USC would be ranked at least ahead of Penn State. So, for arguments sake, USC would be as high as #6 in the AP poll. I don't think USC beats out Bama AND another conference champ to get in. Bama would probably be the 3rd team in with TCU and USC looking in. TCU would have a loss against Iowa State and Oklahoma but they would also have a win over Oklahoma, as well as OK State and WVU. USC would have losses against Washington State and Notre Dame and their best win would be the two they have over Stanford. TCU has a better resume than USC so that would break the tie-breaker for me.

Not as embarrassing as the Clemson and Miami losses were. They both lost to non-bowl eligible teams in their conference. At least Ohio State lost to a team with a winning record.

Granted...but if we're gonna start taking two loss teams, than you need multiple leagues to see
who is the best 2-loss team.

That committee is not going to have a playoff with 2 SEC and 2 ACC teams. I just can't
see that. They want to punish Wisconsin for their schedule so that they don't set a precedent
for other leagues to copy. So 1-loss Whisky is out, in any scenario. Miami and UGA are gonna
be the first two in if UGA beats Auburn and Miami beats Clemson. OU/TCU and Whisky/OSU.
will be the determining games. TCU ain't gonna make it, no matter what the score.

If both of those games go to the lesser team OSU and TCU...I could see OU still getting in the
playoffs. Although it would be close.

I also believe that when they announce the standings tomorrow...
Oklahoma will be #1 *The committee will give them some room to drop in the polls
but not out of the top 4.

#2 Clemson will be #2
#3 Auburn will be #3
#4 Whisky will be #4

5- Georgia
6- Miami
7- Bama
8- USC
9- Penn St
10-TCU

11-UCF

Miami takes out Clemson and UGA takes out Auburn. If OSU beats Whisky then
Bama gets that spot. USC would be a longshot for that.

If TCU takes out OU...then it would be between OU and USC and it would be close.

If USC is not #8 tomorrow night, then the committee has ruled them out.

You forgot OSU in your ranking. Probably 8th behind Bama judging by how these polls have been going. That would leave USC, Ohio State, TCU and Oklahoma for 1 spot. I think USC has a chance, but not a great one. Of course this is all for not because there is only a very small chance Oklahoma, Wisconsin, Auburn and Clemson all lose.

I really just hope it is a big enough mess for them to go to 8 teams.

My top 4 would be:

#1. Miami
#2. Georgia
#3. Ohio State
#4. Auburn

Auburn held 3 Top 3 ranked teams to under 20 points this year, including 2 victories over #1 ranked teams. Auburn is the best team out of them and Bama. I can see how Bama gets in over Auburn, however. 1 loss against a very very good Auburn team while Auburn has lost to Clemson, LSU and the SEC champs Georgia.
This has to be a joke. A 3-loss team has zero chance.

Even if they have a better resume than a 1-loss or 2-loss team? Auburn being in the playoff is a complete reach, I get that, but Auburn, having wins over Alabama and Georgia, while they were both #1 in the country? Those are about the best quality wins you can get. Their loss to LSU hurts them, definitely, but they might have the best resume of all of the playoff contenders.

The best win between Georgia and Alabama is a 1 point win against Notre Dame, a team that Stanford just whipped by 18.

Home and Away big difference in the college game

GT lost by 1 pt to UM and gave Clemson all they could handle but Georgia throttled them

I get it, Team SEC and all but damn. If that's what the whole conference can hang their hat on....come on.

LSU lost to Troy at home.
South Carolina had a nice surprise year, but got housed by Clemson and only beat Louisiana Tech by 1.
Mizzou won 7 games but lost to Purdue by 32.
aTm struggled with Nicholls St.
Ole Miss got beat by Cal, kudos to them for actually traveling though.
Miss st and Tenn both struggled with 4 win UMass.
Kentucky lost to Louisville by 27!
Auburn was in a DOGFIGHT with MERCER!!!!!

STOP DRINKING THE JUICE PEOPLE!!!
